Simon's Bride

Simon's Bride
25. Counting on you

Simon lifted up the jacket and t-shirt lying on top of the little cottage. His blood flow raced when he confirmed that it was his son's clothes. Flashlight shone all over the place. He also found a coat and vest.

The footprints on the sand made Simon follow his direction. He realized the dominant footprints were too large for Anna or Leon's feet. But there are still traces of the two who are still left behind, giving Simon certainty that Anna and Leon went into hiding into the island. What he saw on board Joaquin made him suspect there had been a fight between Anna and her captive man. Intermittent pieces of straps are scattered over the deck. Simon could not figure out who had been tied up before and was finally able to untie the rope.

After a long run and a long distance into the island, Simon finally saw a glow in the distance between the trees that began to close together. He turned off the flashlight and ran in pursuit, closing in on the light source. A man's shadow is seen in Simon's eyes. The man walked slowly, very casually, occasionally a small laugh came out of his lips interspersed with a short whistle.

"We're gonna do this for as long as you want, Em. I'm giving you time to play around."

The man's words sounded quite clear in Simon's ears. He hid behind the trees, stepped slowly and kept his distance from the source of the sound and light that was in front of him. His eyes stared in the distance, seeing if there was another figure walking in the dark of the night among the trees. There was no shadow moving.

"I know you need a little entertainment before you execute the plan we've put together, Em. I told Gery to be nice, gentle and not to be rude to you." Martin's voice was heard again.

Simon followed, listening to every word the man he had guessed was Martin, then accidentally stepped on something that made a crackling sound. Hard enough to be heard by Martin. Simon ducked down, shifting until his body was covered by a tree and a shadow of darkness around him.

From where he stood Martin moved his flashlight around the place. He thought he and Anna were very close. Martin thought the voice he had heard must have been Anna.

"Ah .. You're good at hiding. Have I been through you since, Em? My guess is right, you wouldn't dare go too far into the island."

Simon peeked out from the ground where he lay face down. He saw the light between the trees seem to be turning around, slowly approaching the direction where it was hiding.

Yeah, come here, coward! Face me! Simon shouted it in his heart.

He docked more and more on the ground that felt moist in his palm, choosing some trees that grow parallel so as to cover the view of the man who was heading towards him.

"Emillia! Aren't you cold, honey!?" shouted Martin.

Simon sees Martin's shadow getting closer, he decides to ambush the man and immobilize him. He got up, approached a large tree and hid, waiting for Martin's figure to pass him.

"You like that little boy! Gery will make it with you no matter how you want, Em!" Martin's laughter grew louder in Simon's ears. Signaling that the man was getting closer. Simon clenched his fists, he slightly regretted not carrying any weapons when he got off the ship.

The sound of footsteps was getting closer. Simon peeked and saw Martin taking a path some distance to his right. He must get close if he wants to knock the man out.

When the shadow of Martin's figure is seen walking behind him, Simon begins to move closer to the man. But the occasional movement of Martin twisting the body while shining the surrounding area with his flashlight makes Simon must occasionally stop and go back to hiding behind the trees.

"I know you're around here, Em!"

Martin's footsteps stopped when he saw the area in front of him begin to decline.

"Are you down there, Em!? The weather's getting colder, don't you pity that little boy's getting cold? "

Simon saw Martin upright with one hand at his waist, another hand shining down on the descending area in front of him. It was as if seeing where the descent ended.

Following his instincts, Simon came out from behind a tree, approached and upon arriving behind Martin he ambushed by draping his arm around the man's neck.

Martin revolted, kicking the empty air with both hands holding onto Simon's arm which pressed against his neck. The flashlight in Martin's hand fell rolling towards the descending valley in front of the two men.

Out of air, Martin sat down with his neck choked, but Simon did not loosen the pull of his arm around Martin's neck.

Martin reached into the bag of his coat, removing a knife he had obtained by inching on the deck of the ship. With the knife he cut the rope in his feet and hands. She was lucky that Anna had tied her hand forward and the bond was not very strong. He woke up with a throbbing head of pain, a large lump in the back of his head must have been the result of a plank hit that Anna had done while knocking it down. Martin did not know how long he had fainted, but as soon as he woke up and did not see his captives, he immediately descended to the mainland and chased.

With the rest of his breathing narrower, Martin threw the pointed tip of the knife into Simon's arm, which held his neck, Immediately the shackle loosened along with a scream of pain from Simon's mouth. Simon's foot reflex lunged and kicked Martin's back very strongly. Martin's body was pushed up and fell into a descending area in front of them, rolling down a dark-looking valley.

Simon looked at the dark valley before him. It doesn't look where Martin's body ends. He pressed on the puncture wound in his arm and looked at the pitch-black forest area. He had just pulled out a flashlight from the bag when he heard a loud scream. The silence of the night made that sound sound even from a distance. The voice of the little boy, who screamed many times.

"Leonard!"

Simon ran over, forgetting his intention to examine Martin's body down there. He ran screaming, hoping Anna or Leon would hear his call.

"Leon! Ann!

Another scream, this time Simon made sure it was Leon's voice. Simon followed the direction of the voice, running among the trees. As he continued to run, the voice disappeared. With a hunting breath, Simon stopped, turning his gaze around towards the darkness.

"Leon! Leon! It's Daddy!

Only the echo of his own voice was heard. Simon took a breath, if Leon's voice came from a place like this, then Anna and Leon had gone deep into the forest.

"Leon! Ann! Answer me!"

Deciding to keep calling for Anna and Leon to recognize her voice, Simon yelled again.

"Daddy's air, Leon! "

Silent ... deserted and cold. Desperately Simon stared at the dark night sky. Really he hoped, seeing the heli hovering up there. Anyone, Hamilton, Claude, Vincent ... even Alric! But it didn't seem anything, or anyone.

This time it's just you, Simon Bernard. This time your son can only rely on you.
