Simon's Bride

Simon's Bride
27. Answer my question

"Where's Mam Ann?" Simon asked as he stroked the hair of his son who was still crying.

Leon gave his father some distance, rubbed his watery nose, then pulled his arm towards a large tree.

Flashlight illuminated Anna who was sitting limp with a face full of tears.

"Simon?" anna said in a questioning tone, as if unsure of her vision.

"Simon approached Anna, crouched down and automatically hugged the woman.

"Yes. Its me. I've come" said Simon. His voice is full of emotion. Seeing the incredible relief that radiated in Anna's eyes. Simon sees Leon coming to Anna's side. Soon he grabbed his son and hugged him tightly.

"Where is Martin? Did you meet him?" ask Anna.

"Yes. He fell in the valley. I don't know how he is now. I ran away as soon as I heard Leon scream."

"So someone fell on Leon's shoulder, Leon thought it was a snake, Dad, so Leon shouted."

"Snake!"

"No, Dad. Not snakes. Good thing Mam Ann quickly threw it away and said it was just a root."

Simon took a deep breath, imagining what his son had experienced until he found him on this island.

"You know Martin?" asked Anna astonished. He called Martin and Simon as if he knew it was the man who brought them.

"I know because the ship that was hired to take you is Joaquin's. We know from him that the man who hired him was named Martin."

Anna nodded in understanding.

"We have to leave immediately. You know the way to the beach, don't you?" Anna was beginning to feel her body. He intended to rise to his feet, but just resting his right foot on the ground, he fell down with his mouth hissing in pain.

"Ann? What's up?" Simon shone on Anna's face with a flashlight, finding a twitch in her face.

"Come on, my leg ...."

Anna groped her feet in the dark, and Simon pointed a flashlight at the woman's feet.

"Mr ...." Leon groaned at the sight of a dirty gaping wound in Anna's heel.

"Ann ... your foot ... we must immediately find water and clean your wound." Simon was just about to raise Anna's leg when the woman shook her head and held her hand.

"No. Check Leon's feet. I think his leg is hurt, too."

Simon immediately checked Leonard's leg. Small injuries and blisters appeared on both feet.

"It hurts, Dad ...," Leon said.

"Let's go Leon, Simon. We need to get out of here." Anna tried to get up once again. This time he rested on his left foot and stepped on the tip of his right toe, on tiptoe raised his heel.

"But, Ann. Your feet ...."

"No. Don't think about my feet. I could keep walking. Come on, we need to get Leon out of here."

"But ...."

"Nothing but, Simon. Come on!" Anna began to step up, unable to properly set her foot, she tiptoed and stepped slightly limping.

Seeing Anna's determination, Simon finally complies. He immediately put his back on Leon.

"Get to Daddy's back, Leon." Simon ordered.

After carrying his son Simon immediately walked after Anna who had brought their only source of light.

After walking for some time, Simon finally stopped, Anna's figure who seemed to force himself to drag the body to walk made it unbearable.

"Ann! We have to stop!" exclaim Simon.

"What's!? Why?" Anna looked up and looked at Simon.

"I think Leon's asleep. Can we take a break?"

Anna shone on Leon's face, sure enough, the boy's cheeks leaning on his father's shoulders, his eyes closed tightly.

"Ah .. she must be very tired ...."

"To be honest, Ann .. I'm also a little tired." Simon knew Anna was going to force herself to keep going, she would never admit that her legs hurt and she was tired.

"alright. I think we can sit for a minute."

"Frankly Ann .. I don't really know for sure if this path we're taking is true. So, we better rest, save our energy, buy time until help comes."

"Will anyone pick us up at the beach?"

"certain. Maybe not just on the beach. Maybe the one who picked us up is going into the woods. They just need time to get here."

Anna nodded. He finally looked around, looking for a place that was at least flat and somewhat clean for where they rested. With the help of a flashlight he found a stone with a flat surface between piles of small stones, Simon also saw and told Anna to stop at that place.

"There!" said Simon.

"Can you take Leon for a second? " ask Simon

"Oh, okay. Give him to me." Anna puts the flashlight on the ground, then picks Leon up from behind Simon's back.

After Leon is carried by Anna, Simon looks for a seat. He chose a stone behind which there was a tree. After sitting down and leaning against the tree, Simon removed the parka jacket from his body and reached out to Anna.

"Here, give him to me."

Anna placed Leon in Simon's lap carefully, keeping the boy from waking up.

"Come here, sit here." Simon signaled with his hand for Anna to sit next to him.

"No. I'll just sit here" Anna refused.

"Come Ann. The flashlight will be turned off. We need to save power. When someone calls, or help comes, at least this light could be a clue to where we are."

"We can scream." Anna gave an excuse.

"You're right. Sure oes. But I insisted. Come and sit here! At least do it so I don't worry" Simon said in a stern tone.

Anna raised her eyebrows at the tone of the man's voice, but she had run out of energy to argue.

"All right."

Anna moved and sat down beside Simon. He slightly lowered his head and peered at the sleeping Leon leaning against his father's chest.

"Thank God he slept well."

Just as he was about to lean back, Simon's arm moved and grabbed Anna's shoulder.

"Hey!" anna protest.

"close. Your piyamu's moist. You don't want to open it, do you? So get close to me so the three of us can fit under this wide parka."

Simon spread his jacket until it covered the upper body of the three of them.

"Well. It'll fit if you get close. Or better yet if you lean like Leon."

The seductive tone in Simon's voice made Anna's laughter finally come loose. A little laugh that made Simon feel relieved.

"You are!" Anna patted Simon's chest softly. He held his own hand afterwards.

Jeez .. It was a chest or a wall ....

Simon pulled Anna's shoulder harder, until the woman finally completely stuck with her body. That's when Anna's hand accidentally touched the knife stabbing marks done by Martin. Simon sizzled to the point of making Anna wonder. He took a flashlight and checked the man's hand.

"Simon! This wound ...."

"Sttttt .. don't exaggerate. A little fight with Martin. Keep your voice down Ann ... Leon could wake up."

"But .. It's still bleeding, Simon. You have to bandage it."

Anna looked at the cloth wrapped around Leon's body, then saw her own pajamas. Simon chuckled as he could guess the direction of the woman's mind.

"Don't tell me you want to rip your pajamas to bandage this wound. Although I wouldn't mind seeing something interesting in the middle of this dark forest, I don't want my friends to lose their clothes."

"Seriously, Simon. It must be bandaged."

"Alright, then, just rip my shirt arm off. You can pull it easily."

Anna did what Simon said, easily pulling the sleeve off the shoulder, then starting to close and wrap the stitch on Simon's arm.

"Beres" said Simon as Anna finished her wound.

"Not sick?"

"No."

"Thank God."

"Now answer my question, Ann ... All of them! Because without you asking, you've brought us both to deal with Martin, don't dodge. Don't lie ... First ...."

Simon pulled back Anna's shoulder, the parka jacket had already sagged and covered only Leon's sleeping body. Simon looked deeply into Anna's eyes.

"Who's this guy named Martin, Ann?"
