Simon's Bride

Simon's Bride
5. Pick up Leonard

Simon got out of his car and approaching the school grounds, parents who were also picking up their children were seen waiting. One by one the children started coming out of the classroom, Anna was already waiting outside the classroom while talking to some waiting mothers.

Leon's class has just ended, but Anna's colleague who filled the class is currently conducting the last session of the meeting by singing a song and also ending with a prayer. The children were then called out one by one so as not to scramble out of the classroom.

Simon stood leaning on a pedestal in front of one of the classrooms. He watched Mam Ann from far away. The woman said her greetings and also did a toast with her students who had come out of the classroom, greeting the parents who had met their children and waving at them. The woman's clear green eyes sparkled happily as she said goodbye to her students.

Leon's figure then comes out of the classroom, Simon does not move, deliberately waiting for Leon to see it.

Leon pulls the end of Anna's dress, calling the teacher's mother's attention.

"Mam Ann, look at my shirt" Leon said as he pulled up his school uniform.

Anna lowered her head, looking at the front of Leonard's shirt which was pulled by the boy's plump hand towards the front.

Anna squatted down, then saw the stain on the shirt.

"What is this stain, Leon?" asked Anna while pursing her nose. Recognize the smell of ketchup smelled from Leon's uniform.

"It's tomato sauce, Mam Ann."

"Why is there sauce stuck in Leon's uniform?" ask Anna. He reached into his pocket, took a handkerchief and immediately wiped the rest of the sauce that was still attached to the shirt.

"Jessi naughty, Mom. He sprayed his sauce on my chest. Leon's been cleaning up, but it still stinks" Simon murmured.

"It can't just be wiped. Let's go with Mam to the toilet," Anna asked. He stood up, took Leon and took him to the school toilet.

Anna picked Leon up and sat the boy down next to the sink. The teacher washes his handkerchief first, then starts wiping Leonard's shirt.

"Tell Mam Ann .. Why did Jessi throw her sauce at Leon?" asked Anna in a soft tone.

Leon looked to pursed his lips, then he replied. "Because Jessi's naughty, Mam."

"Jessi wasn't naughty Leonard. Jessi never bothered anyone. Jessi is a quiet child. Jessi doesn't like to be disturbed. Jessi's a sweet kid."

Leonard puffed both of his cheeks at Anna's words.

"Jessi is too quiet. Jessi is hard to talk to. Jessi doesn't have any friends, Mom. Leon just wants to make him talk to Leon!"

Anna smiled, She once spoke to Jessi's mother. Jessi seems to have trouble socializing, the little girl is too quiet and likes to be alone. Her mother tried to make her little girl more daring, but not too successful.

"What did Leon say Jessi wanted to talk to you?"

"Mmm .. that ...." Leonard rubbed his nose repeatedly, a habit that Anna judged the boy to do when he was nervous.

"Tell Mam Ann. Exactly what did Leon say or do to get Jessi to talk to Leon?"

Anna waited patiently, stood up and wiped Leonard's shirt, rinsed his handkerchief under the sink, and cleaned his uniform again.

"Leon asked what he brought as lunch." Leonard was silent again.

"Then?" Anna waited patiently, smiling gently for Leonard to resume his story.

Leon pursed his lips before answering. "Jessi didn't answer, and Leon asked if Jessi had a pen with two, if Leon wanted to borrow, Jessi was silent, Leon pulled his hair so he could raise his head and look at Leon. He got angry and told Leon to stay away."

"Leon did it on purpose?"

Leonard's head nodded repeatedly. "Leon just wanted to make her friends."

"Then what happened? Why is there sauce?"

"Leon offered Leon food to him, he kept quiet, Leon asked again what he brought for lunch, he did not answer. Finally ....."

"Finally?"

"Mmmm .... Leon takes Jessi's lunchbox and sees for himself what it contains ..."

"And Jessi's getting pissed?"

"That's because he won't talk! Try him to answer what his lunch is, Leon won't open it himself! Jessi's mouth is like in Mam Ann's glue ...."

Anna smiled, knowing Leon just wanted to make Jessi friends. "So Jessi threw her sauce at Leon?"

Anna took a deep breath and smiled. "Leon is a good boy, but the way to get Jessi to be friends is not by force. Leon had to approach her slowly. Just let Jessi not reply to Leon. But keep being nice, reprimanding him and talking to him. Once Jessi finds out that Leon is a good friend, she'll want to talk, let's not talk."

"As with Mam Ann? Is that how Mam Ann ended up being friends with Jessi?" ask Leon.

Anna nodded. "It took a few days, but he finally wanted to talk to Mam. Don't piss him off again. He's going further away" Anna suggested, tidying up Leon's bangs.

Leon nodded. "alright. Leon's gonna act like a teacher."

"Good boy. Come on .. Now we're out. Leon's pick-up must have arrived."

Outside the toilet door, Simon, who had been following his son and Mam Ann, immediately turned around and stepped back towards the school grounds. He listened to the conversation between the teacher's mother and Leonard. A knotty smile appeared on his lips when he found out that his son was trying to be nice, but in the wrong way.

Upon arriving at the school grounds, Simon stood waiting with both hands stuffed into a bag of pants. The surrounding situation had begun to quiet, only a few more children were still running around in the yard while waiting for an invitation to go home.

"Daddy!"

Simon turned his head, smiling at Leon who released his hand from Anna's armband and ran towards her. He immediately crouched down and greeted his seemingly overjoyed son.

"Daddy picked you up? Leon thinks Uncle Seth picked me up."

"Uncle Seth's at home with Grandpa."

Leon's eyes were round and sparkling with pleasure. "Grandfather Hamilton has arrived?" tanyakanya.

Simon nodded. "Yes." Yeah."

"Let's go home, Dad." Leon pulled his father's hand, took him away.

"Leon forgot Master because of Grandpa's arrival. Come .. say goodbye first," said Simon.

With a shy smile Leon returned to face Anna. "Mam Ann, thank you for cleaning Leon's uniform. From tomorrow Leon will be nice to Jessi. Leon go home first."

Anna just smiled, then nodded her head.

"Thank you, Mama Ann. You want to go home too? Let us take you home," bargained Simon kindly.

Anna immediately raised both of her hands. "Ti-no, Mr. Bernard. That's not necessary. Really am. I can go home by myself, after all there is something I have to do first," Anna subtly refused.

"Ah ... is part-time again?" ask Simon.

Anna gulped before answering. The lies he told yesterday that he now has to lengthen.

"That-that's it, Mr. Bernard." - Bernard."

"Till night again?"

"Y-yeah ...."

"Don't be too tired, Mam Ann .. Take care of yourself."

"of course. I'm fine, thank you Mr. Bernard." - Bernard." Anna squeezed both her hands unconsciously. Start to feel restless when someone asks him to talk about personal affairs.

Simon smiled, seeing that Mam Ann began to riled up like yesterday when he began to ask a lot of questions or invite chatting affairs that have nothing to do with Leon. The woman's attitude could not be clearer. But it made him more curious about the figure of Anna.
