A hotel clerk had been standing in front of the door the moment he opened it. Miles nodded his head allowing the man to take his suitcase. He went to the elevator and chose the ground floor. For the last time, he looked towards the restaurant where he first met Juliett. Just sec. It was there that he first met the woman. If he does not stay at the hotel then he should book the place beforehand.
Miles immediately walked half-run towards the restaurant. The lady who received the guest greeted him kindly. He asked the woman to see the guest list three nights ago. Although astonished by her request, the woman complied and gave the book a list of booking places to her. There were about twenty people who ordered a table that night. Five of them are women. As soon as he saw Juliett's name, Miles let out a disappointed sigh. Even for booking places he uses his pseudonym. Obviously he didn't want Miles or anyone else to find him.
After thanking him, Miles walked back to the main door. In front of the hotel, a car was waiting for him. Friendly, every hotel employee who passed by him thanked him for his visit and expected his return. He returned their greetings one by one.
A few hours later, he arrived at the arrival terminal. Miles felt as if he had lost his strength. He did not want to go back to his house or to his wife. Nothing will change with her marriage. Everything will be back to how it has been for the past five years. But he doesn't know where to go. He can't catch up with Juliett either.
For a long time she never felt so helpless. Just this time, after all these years, he felt it again and he hated it. It was also the first time she realized that she had no complete control over her own life. He is the leader of his own company, but not the leader of his life and marriage.
“Welcome back, Mr.” said Markus who had been waiting for him in front of the terminal exit. He took his master's suitcase out of his hand.
“Thank you, Mark.” said Miles slowly. He followed the man closer to his parked car not far from the arrival terminal exit.
He felt depressed as soon as he arrived at his house. It was not because he was aware that he had cheated on another woman. But because he regretted having set foot in the house again, especially when his wife immediately welcomed him saying that now was his fertile day. Juliett with a distinctive aroma and touch is still clearly visible throughout his body. He has not replaced it with another woman. Even if the woman is his own wife.
Saying no, his wife must have been furious and again suspected that he had a mistress. If only he knew. He happily wanted to admit it in front of his face. He grew tired of the same situation he had to face at home. But if he did, he wasn't sure he'd be passionate about doing it with his wife.
Accustomed to Juliett's fragrant, neat, and slightly dressed appearance, he lost the passion of seeing his wife who did not try to look attractive while welcoming him. The thing that had not been protested for a long time, now became something that made him start comparing his wife with the Juliett. His wife did not even wait for him to rest for a moment before unbuttoning his shirt. He just arrived from a trip abroad.
That night his wife used every time to have sex with him. Taking a few minutes off, he asked her to do it again. Sometimes, Miles wasn't even ready, his wife had asked him again. Keep going all night. The woman was only satisfied when she could no longer open her eyes. Hearing the sound of his wife's regular breathing, Miles woke up and headed for the bathroom.
Inhaling his scent, there was no longer any lingering Juliett scent there. He sighed softly. In front of the mirror he saw the scars of his wife on his chest and back, while on his neck and shoulders he found some bite marks. His hair was messy, his scalp sore because his hair was repeatedly grabbed, his lips swollen to a size larger than his normal size. The usual scenery whenever they had intercourse all night.
He bathed under a fountain and cleaned his body from his head to his toes. The stinging pain in some parts of his body was nothing compared to the pain he felt when he saw Juliett leave him. Memories of when they were together back toying in his head, without he could prevent.
“If you were given a child, what name would you give?”
The unexpected question came from Juliett. She had always expected to have children with Angelica. He had even prepared a name for the boy or girl they would have. They were so happy to see their first child. But he hated it because that hope had changed his wife. Their dream of having children has ruined their marriage.
But only he realized that. Angelica doesn't seem to see anything wrong in their marriage. He focused on his desire to have children. She didn't care if she had to hurt her husband. Like the person being chased around the target, she used every second to ensure that her efforts this time would successfully get her pregnant.
Out of so many options for their efforts to succeed, she forced to get a child through intercourse on her fertile day. He did not want to see a doctor to look for the location of the problem and undergo treatment before it was too late for them. He also does not want to adopt children if indeed the child is the thing he covets.
The thing he never understood from his wife was her hard efforts to have intercourse when she was so sure that her husband was barren. If he's healthy and Miles is sick, then why does he keep pushing? The result will be the same. Five years is not a short time. They've tried their best and she's not pregnant yet.
Even if they don't stop having sex every time they want to, Miles knows Juliett will never get pregnant. That was the only reason she decided not to wear protective gear during intercourse. He's barren, so it won't help much. But they enjoyed it whenever they were in bed. Honey, that beautiful dream is over. The truth is in front of him.
