Kirana laughed with him. Miles was relieved. So relieved. He did not laugh for a long time after that. Laughing at the past, stupidity, and fear is a waste of time. He has also admitted everything. He not only wants Kirana but also wants William.
“And all the visits to your workspace are to make sure that I will have a child from you. But out of all those visits, just one time I was brave enough to have sex with you. I don't want you to think that I just want your body. I'll do anything for you to be willing to marry me.” I'm Miles. Kirana just smiled.
“You're ready to talk to him?” kirana asked to switch the conversation. Miles did not protest. He nodded his head. The woman needed time to digest the awkward situation. He still had time to propose to her again. The woman called their son. William complied and rushed over. Then he sat down next to his mother.
“Will, this is Daddy, Miles Alastair Bradford.” Kirana said introducing them. William already knew it, so he wasn't surprised anymore.
“Why is his name strange, Mom?” ask William. Miles coughed amusedly hearing it.
“Because Daddy is not Indonesian.” replied Kirana honestly. William nodded slowly, then he stood up and approached Miles.
“Ooo... That's why my hair, skin and eyes are not like yours and my friends. I look like Daddy.” William touches Miles' hair, skin, and then watches his eyeballs. His father tried not to move.
“Is God bored with Daddy, so God answered my prayer to return Daddy to me, Mom?” ask William plain. Miles looked at Kirana as he raised both eyebrows, wanting to know what answer he would give.
“Ng, the,” The woman looks to think for a moment. “I'm sorry, baby. I have lied to you. Daddy's not dead, he's alive.”
“I forgive you, Mom. Sometimes I also lie to you and you always forgive me.” It seemed like his sense of happiness to be able to see his father made him for a moment not caring about whatever was around him.
“Thank you, Will dear.” Kirana rubbed William's back and returned Miles' eyes by raising both eyebrows as well.
“Where has Daddy been all this time, Mom?” he asked his mother again, not to his father who was closer to him. Kirana looked towards him. “Why doesn't he stay with us?”
“There was a misunderstanding between us. But we've finished it. We are fine now.” Kirana looked into Miles' eyes. The man did the same.
“Misunderstanding? What is it, Mom?” William sat down next to his mother.
“Ng, misunderstanding it, mm,” Kirana is considering the answer. Miles laughed a little. An idea popped into his head seeing a man passing by with his dog in front of him.
“Have you talked to the dog?” ask Miles. William looked towards her.
“No.” The little boy shook his head.
“Because you can't speak using the language, right?” ask Miles again. The boy nodded quickly. “That's a misunderstanding.” Miles concluded. Kirana made her mouth not believe.
“Now I understand.” said William pleased. He looked towards the field hearing his name being called. “Can I go now, Mom? Or is there something else we need to talk about?”
“Bby.” Kirana let her son go. “Come back when you're hungry.”
“Okay.” William stood up and ran over to his friends. He looked back just to wave his hand. From the corner of his eye, Miles could see Kirana glaring at him.
“What?” Miles laughing. He could guess what was troubling the woman's mind. Kirana still looked at him in disbelief. “The explanation was successful.” He shrugged both his shoulders.
“Lain times, I answered all his questions.” Kirana said annoyed. He pointed his index finger at Miles. “Your answer does not help at all.”
“Because you gave an incorrect analogy.” protest Kirana. “She's still kind of a Kindergarten now but she's going to school soon, Miles. Do you think he won't use your answer to refute what his teacher taught him one day?”
“Hey, it's not my fault. I've only been a father for a few hours. It is impossible to surpass the ability of you who have been a mother for five years.” attacks Miles.
“True also.” Kirana laughs amusedly. “I'm sorry.”
“Well, you apologized by laughing at me. It's great.” Miles approached and sat down on Kirana's side. “So, does that mean you will move to my house?”
“What? No.” Kirana. Miles wrapped his hands around the woman's waist, preventing her from moving any further. Kirana laughed amusedly as Miles' hair touched her face.
“Are you going to marry me?” miles whisper.
“No.” Kirana laughed a little. Miles frowned. “Do you think, with a child I will agree to marry you? Miles, that means you don't know me. I can't be conquered that easily.” Kirana turned her head against the man.
“But I know how to change your mind.” God.
“It looks like it hasn't worked.” Kirana showed him her empty fingers, no ring around. Miles laughed and kissed her. Kirana shrieked softly.
“What's up? Did I hurt the little guy?” ask Miles to panic. Kirana laughs.
“Not. We're in a public place. This is Indonesia, Miles. People are not used to seeing couples kissing on the lips.” Kirana reminded.
“True too. Alright. I'll wait until we're alone.” Miles nodded slowly. Kirana smiled amusedly.
“You're confident too, huh? I'm not sure we'll ever be alone again. I will keep a safe distance from you.” Kirana said in a serious tone but her lips formed a sweet smile.
“Sweetheart, you won't be able to reject me.” said Miles arrogantly. When Kirana did not say anything, Miles put his chin on his shoulder. They watch their son play football with the other kids. He felt like they were like family.
They quarrel and Miles comes out victorious, Kirana relents and gets into her truck. After closing the door for the woman, she helps William to get into the back seat. Then she put her son's seat belt on. As he was already behind the steering wheel, he smiled happily towards Kirana. Yes, they are like a family.
“Wow, Dad. This car is cool!” cheer William. Miles laughing.
“I can drive anywhere you want. Do you have any idea where to go?” ask Miles. William was silent for a moment thinking where he was going.
“Can we go eat ice cream, Mom?” ask William.
“Not today. I'm so tired. Can we just go home? I beg?” pinta Kirana's. William and Miles let out a long sigh. “We can go there tomorrow, if you still want.” Kirana looked towards their son who was sitting at the back. William agreed immediately.
“Can Dad come with us?” ask William again. Miles and Kirana exchanged looks.
“If he wants to come.” Kirana smiled in support of Miles.
“I want to join.” replied Miles quickly. Once again, William cheered happily. Miles grabbed Kirana's hand on top of his lap and squeezed it slowly. Kirana looked towards him. The man formed a thank you sentence with his lips.
