Kirana's coworkers are very friendly and talkative. They share everything they do and experience in the company they once worked with. Although they no longer work at the company, they passionately tell what happens to their department after Kirana leaves. They also tell about who stole the company's money. The one who accused him of stealing was the real culprit. Not something new anymore. Miles knew it.
None of them wanted to know exactly when they were getting married. Miles did not mention the year of their marriage. They don't need to know the details. It seemed that his wife did not mind keeping it a secret either. They just want to protect William. Not everyone can accept this news. William was born when Miles was married to another woman.
The way they treat it is different from their employees in Jakarta. She can't hide her wedding date and Kirana's. They are shocked to learn that Miles has a five-year-old son from a woman who is not his wife. From the way they saw it, he knew that they were judging him. But they were smart enough not to talk about it openly in front of him. With Kirana, they are more open.
Some of them accused him of being the source of Miles' household commotion with his late wife. They moved away from him, even one of Kirana's subordinates looked at him dislikefully every time they passed each other. Accustomed to that state, Kirana raised her chin and walked confidently. Only when the two of them were alone in the room, then he would show his unhappy face.
Finally they finished the meeting and said goodbye to each other. Miles gets into the car they rented to lay William in the back seat. After covering her son's body with a blanket, she put on her son's seatbelt. He was standing at the side of the car waiting for his wife who was having a serious conversation with Dexter.
Noticing how the man behaved, Miles did not like him. He repeatedly tried to catch his wife's attention during dinner. It was as if he was the only one in the room that needed to be noticed and Kirana's other friend had to be ignored. Now seeing him talking to his wife in front of the restaurant for so long, he lost respect for her. Kirana was pregnant and the air was cold that night. His wife repeatedly rubbed her arms trying to warm herself up.
Unable to stand it anymore, Miles locked the door and approached them. None of them felt his coming. Dexter turned first towards her. Miles looked at him and looked at his wife. After she wrapped her hands around Kirana's waist, she lowered her head kissing her. His wife's lips twitched. Because he's cold, angry, or scared? Only those three things he knew could make him tremble.
“Will is asleep. He won't be comfortable sleeping too long in the car.” Miles whispered. Kirana nodded slowly. He looked towards Dexter.
“We talk tomorrow morning? You can have breakfast at our home before leaving for work.” Kirana said offering. The man glanced at Miles for a moment.
“Oke.” He kissed Kirana's cheek. Miles had to let go as the man hugged him. “See you tomorrow.” He nodded his head at Miles, then turned his back.
Once they were in the car, no one tried to open the conversation. Five minutes later, Kirana fell asleep. After putting the car into an outside garage, Miles locked the fence back. First, he took William in his arms and laid his son on the bed. Next, he carried Kirana and laid his wife on their bed.
He checked all the doors and windows to make sure everything was locked. Returning to her son's room, she changes William's clothes and forces him to brush his teeth. The same thing he did to his wife. But she took longer because the woman kept complaining that she was very sleepy.
Then she herself changed clothes, brushed her teeth, and cleaned her face in the bathroom. He saw his reflection in the mirror. There was something strange about the attitude and movements of the man named Dexter. She doesn't like it.
No, it's not jealousy. The friendship between them had been established since they were children. So, Miles understood and did not care about their closeness. Although he was a little jealous, it was okay for Dexter to kiss or hug his wife. As long as Kirana doesn't mind, she will allow it. But there was something he could not interpret regarding the man's attitude towards Kirana.
He placed a paper glass filled with warm chocolate in front of Kirana and a mochaccino for Dexter. The man looks surprised that Kirana still remembers her favorite drink. Miles just rolled his eyeballs. And black coffee for himself. William had eaten the cupcake voraciously by his side.
The three of them enjoyed their bread. There was no serious conversation between them. Just a boring topic about work. The same incident was repeated when Kirana told her best friend that her husband was a successful businessman. Dexter wants to know the secret to his success.
“Attractive man.” Miles said when Dexter had left in his car.
“You're jealous?” kirana Goda.
“Slightly. But I believe in you.” Miles kissed her lips. The woman closed her eyes enjoying their kiss, then opened it when their kiss ended. His eyes look sad. “What makes you sad?”
“He's got a problem with his wife.” I'm Kirana slowly.
“Which husband has no problem with his wife?” Miles rolled his eyes, trying to melt the atmosphere. As Kirana chuckled, she smiled happily.
“You understand what I mean. Their first child died in the womb. Since then, their relationship has not been good. They have been separated for six years. Said Vivi now lives in a rented room near her workplace.” They walked hand in hand to the dining room, passing William who was busy coloring one of his picture books.
“What is he doing here? He should have tried to bring his wife home.” Miles collected paper cups and empty bread boxes, then put them in the trash.
“I've proposed the same thing. He will try it again tonight.” Kirana said. Miles approached his wife and kissed a frown between his eyebrows.
“I told you, I don't like to see you sad.” he reminded. Kirana sighed softly.
“He's my best friend, Miles. And Vivi as well. How could I not feel sad about the problems they are facing.” he said sadly. And Miles hates Dexter.
