One week into marriage, Miles is content with his life. He has everything he wants in this world. A wife and a child. Oh, and another child is about to be born. It felt like there was still a long time left before Kirana's stomach grew. Things that have been eagerly awaited since he lost the opportunity with William. She didn't want to lose her chance to see her baby grow up.
“Miles, do you see where my shoes are?” kirana asked from their clothes room. Miles leaves the bathroom and approaches his wife.
Kirana stood in front of her shoe boxes while checking each label on the box. She wears a soft purple dress with large red flowers blending in black. The tip of her skirt stopped just above her knees. Her stomach hasn't looked enlarged yet but she's starting to like wearing loose dress. His long hair he let loose covered his back. Miles crossed his arms in front of his chest and rested his shoulders on the door frame, enjoying the view before him.
Wife turned. “Why are you just standing there? Where's my shoes?” He's starting to look upset and that's not a good sign.
Miles approached, stood by his side, and looked towards the dozens of transparent shoe boxes in front of him. “Isn't that all your shoes, sweetheart?” He pointed towards all the shoes of his wife.
“Iya and no. There are some new shoes and sandals that I don't remember ever buying. Everything is entitled flat. Not surprisingly, in exchange my shoes and high-heeled sandals are gone.” Kirana said annoyed. He turned towards Miles with a reddened face.
“Which I know, these are all your shoes.” The man just shrugged both of his shoulders.
Kirana squinted her eyes. “You moved all those shoes ‘right?” Miles sees danger. So, it's time to avoid the question and do something else.
“I'll check if Will is awake or not. We can't be late to the airport.” Miles turned his back and rushed out of their room. From the sound of footsteps behind him, he knew his wife was following him.
“I told you I'd be careful. All shoes are safe for pregnant women. When Will was in the womb, I used to work wearing all those high heels. Why are you trying to change my habits now?” kirana protests. “Just because you read an article on the internet that says high heels can be dangerous for pregnant women, doesn't mean it will harm me, Miles. Those people are overreacting.”
“Hai, Will. Are you ready?” miles asked at William's doorstep, ignoring his wife's protest.
“Already, Dad.” He ran over while carrying his backpack.
“Good.” Miles nodded slowly. He looked towards Kirana. The woman gave him a deadly look and her hands folded in front of her chest. Hm. A seductive sight, he thought as he looked towards his wife's chest. But he had no time to pamper his wife at this moment. They're hustling. “Me and Will will be waiting in the dining room.”
“I want my shoes!” kirana said as she stomped one foot onto the floor. Miles laughed with excitement.
They will go to the city where Kirana was born and grew up. Families who rent their homes will move to another city. Because the time is close to the day of the death of the two parents Kirana, then they decided to go there as well as make a pilgrimage. In addition, Miles wanted to know what kind of place his wife spent most of her life.
The first thing that made him curious was Dexter. His best friend since childhood who chose not to befriend him again for the sake of his wife. Miles knows that emotion. But he did not forbid his wife to befriend or be close to friends and co-workers. Maybe men and women have different ways of judging the closeness of their partners with their own friends.
“We're almost late because you took too long to choose the shoes, Mom.” accuses William. They started again, Miles quietly sighed softly.
“If you did not spill milk on your shirt, we have arrived here twenty minutes ago.” said Kirana did not want to lose.
“Can you guys, I beg you, stop bickering? We just need to check in and everything will be in order.” Lerai Miles. Kirana and William glared at her. He groans softly.
When Kirana and William were fighting, they did not care about anyone who was trying to break them up. Because whoever it is, they don't like their debate to be underestimated. Mother and son are the same. Fortunately, they had never fought in front of Amanda and Shane, let alone Trevor and Charlotte. Hopefully never will.
“I have to go to the toilet.” William said urgently.
“Not now, Will.” said Kirana refused.
“Must now, Mom.” whines William won't listen to his mother's speech. Kirana groaned in annoyance.
“Let me go to the check-in counter and take care of our luggage. You two go to the toilet. I'll meet you there.” Miles drops William off the trolley and helps him stand on the floor, then kisses Kirana on the lips. They really don't have time to argue.
“Good.” Kirana relented while holding William's hand. They walked quickly to the nearest toilet.
At the check-in counter, Miles gave his ticket, passport and VISA, and Kirana's identification card. The woman behind the counter labeled her suitcase, gave her her boarding pass, her passport, and her wife's identification card. Kirana and William came out of the toilet as she was near. Miles' face paled as Kirana slipped and lost her balance. With his heart pounding fast, he immediately caught it by wrapping his hands around his wife's body.
“Oh. Oh, geez! Just barely!” kirana said in relief. Miles' heart was still beating very fast.
“Can imagine what it would be like if you were wearing your high heels?” miles was worried. Kirana rolled her eyeballs.
“Didn't you always be ready to prevent me from falling?” his reply. Miles chuckled and shook his head at the same time. That woman is really unbelievable. He can still joke at times like that.
“Mom, Dad, can it be accelerated?” william was impatient.
Miles breathed a sigh of relief as they finally sat inside the plane. Kirana sat opposite him with their son. Wanting to see the view outside the window, William refused to wear his seatbelt. He did not hear what Kirana had told him to obey his mother, but William pouted and obeyed. Miles laughed a little. Although it was not easy to be together in the first month, she loved her family.
