The Unforgettable Story

The Unforgettable Story
Section 60

Kirana acted like a child at her unanswered question. But Miles doesn't want him to go and shut himself out of it anymore. He hugged her until she stopped rebelling. He did not understand what made the woman so angry. He himself who took the initiative regarding the deal no private talks. And he's the one who's rejecting the idea now?

But Kirana was right. She did not want the woman to think she only wanted her body by sleeping with him. If she seriously wants to marry him, then the woman needs to know everything that will affect their relationship in the future. He must answer every curiosity. Isn't his curiosity about his personal life one of the proofs that he cares about her?

“He wants a child, okay?” she was convinced that she was ready to tell the dark side of her life to her Juliett. Kirana suddenly stopped rebelling to get away from him. He looked towards Miles, expecting him to continue his story. “And after ten years we concentrated on it, I couldn't get her pregnant. Every time he got his period, we had a big fight. But every time she's fertile, we have sex.”

“Ten years of being humbled and humiliated by your loved ones, you will begin to question your feelings and commitment to them. Believe this. You will even start to regret your decision to marry her.” Miles nodded slowly.

“I'm starting to hate having sex and getting sick of being made into a child-making machine. He didn't want to see a doctor but was so sure that I was barren. With that assumption, she continued to use me to make herself pregnant. In the last months we were together, I was tired and stopped trying. He wants to wear my body, I don't care. My passion has long since died. I began to believe that I was not a normal man. I can't afford to give my wife a child.”

Miles took a deep breath. “Then on our twentieth wedding anniversary, she ended her own life.”

Kirana took a surprised breath. Tears slowly pooled in her eyes. “Miles, I'm so sorry to have asked you to tell me. You don't have to continue it anymore. Thats enough. I don't want to make you sad.”

“Let me finish.”

“But,” protest Kirana. Miles kissed her lips and moved away before she could not stop herself. He looked at the woman's face while stroking her cheeks. Kirana closed her lips.

“I want to continue my life. So, I have to finish this story.” he said gently. Kirana nodded her head.

“I allowed her body to be autopsied. I couldn't breathe until the doctor confirmed that it was true that he killed himself and no one tried to kill him. His family was furious and accused me of killing him. They one word by saying that I was the one who made him depressed and suicidal.”

“I gave lab results to them, which proved that I was not barren. But that didn't stop them from making my life suffer. I understood at that moment. They must have been devastated and saddened by the departure of their daughter and sister.”

“I saw a psychologist regularly for about nine months to recuperate. I was depressed because of my bad marriage. And you know what helps me sleep?” ask Miles. Kirana shook her head. The man kissed her softly. “Perfumes and bath soaps that you usually use.”

“My usual perfume and soap I wear?” Kirana rounded her eyes.

“Iya. I'm glad I remember the scent of your perfume and soap. By kissing her, I can feel you near me. You believe it or not, I said honestly.” he said slowly.

“Therefore I want you to marry me. I need you, Kirana. I don't want to live with your shadow. I want to live with you in real life. I want more than what we have when we're in Singapore or when we're just the two of us. I know this sounds cliche and exaggerated, but after what happened in my life, I can't live without you. And I don't want to live without you.”

“I,” said Kirana confused.

“At least give me an honor by considering it.” He was pleading with her, but she didn't care if she had to humble herself. “I have opened my heart and conveyed my feelings honestly to you. Please, don't give me an answer before you really seriously think about my proposal.”

“Good.” Kirana. “Will I think. But I'm sure that I won't give you my different answer.”

“I know how to change your mind.” Miles' eyes glinted with pleasure. Kirana frowned.

Miles pushed his body to the couch. Kirana was surprised. Then they laughed together. Miles slowly lowered his face and kissed his lips. Kirana closed her eyes enjoying the kiss and their first intimate relationship on the sofa. The film was forgotten. So too with their past.

As the woman fell asleep, Miles carried her to the room and laid her on the bed. He locked the front door, turned off the lights, then slept while hugging his Juliett.

The first day of the seminar started at nine in the morning. Kirana faithfully stood by her side as she greeted her acquaintances and co-workers who were also attending the event. Not forgetting that he introduced them. With her fluent English skills, she found no difficulty communicating with all of her colleagues.

During the seminar, he could not concentrate. The woman sitting by his side could not escape his attention. He did not try to talk, touch, or look at her. Miles doesn't know why. Just by sitting by his side, the woman was able to distract him.

In a session where participants could ask the source, Kirana asked two questions that proved she was listening to the presentation. The speaker was proud to hear it and answered the question enthusiastically. He shouldn't have sat next to the woman from the very beginning.

At lunchtime, Miles did not have to bother avoiding Kirana. The speaker invited him to sit together at a table that had been provided specifically for the speakers. Secretly, he watched them chatting so intimately not far from the table where he dined with the businessmen of his acquaintances.

In the next session, Kirana did not try to look for him or return to her place. He sat down with the speaker in the front row. Sometimes the guy comes up and talks to his Juliett. Miles narrowed his eyes. A woman sitting on an empty chair by his side was trying to attract his attention. Miles ignored her and watched how the man had treated Kirana.

He was ready to jump quickly if the man tried to seduce or seduce her before his eyes. But that man was a polite man. He only spoke cheerfully with her and did not touch Kirana. Instead, the woman sitting by his side rubbed her arms, thighs, or hands every time she spoke. No matter how many times Miles asked him to shut up. Unbelievable.
