The Unforgettable Story
Section 68

Miles grumbled softly as he walked towards the elevator. He pressed one of the numbers and tapped his feet on the floor of the elevator. He couldn't wait to get to his destination floor. As soon as the elevator door opened, he rushed towards the room of Pranaja. The nurse greeted him and opened the door for him. He breathed a sigh of relief seeing the man in his room.

“Alastair, how are you? Don't tell me you're sick.” welcome Pranaja kindly.

“I need your help, Pranaja. I need information about a child who was born in this hospital.” Miles pleaded and he was not ashamed to do so.

“Kids? Have you asked in the health file storage section? We keep all the information there.” his suggestion.

“They won't allow me. On his birth certificate there is only the name of the mother. Her father's name is empty. He's my son, Pranaja. My boy! I have the right to read that information!” shouted Miles frustrated.

“Al, calm yourself. Be sitting. I don't understand.” Pranaja looks confused. Miles complied and sat in the chair. The man gave her a glass of water. Miles immediately spent half of it. “OK. Now tell me one by one.”

Miles took a deep breath before he started talking. “Six years ago I had regular meetings with my friends fellow foreign businessmen in Singapore. I intentionally stayed there three days longer than usual. I want to avoid Angelica. You know how our relationship was at the time. Then I met this woman. I love it and we spend time together. I'm not afraid of the intimate relationship we're having. Because I know, I'm barren.”

“Then, where did you know he was your son?” pranaja was confused.

“He now works at my company. Last Sunday I followed him home. He has a child. Her hair is blonde, Pranaja. He also has skin color like me. He was five years old on the seventh of August. I met that woman in early December six years ago. Calculation exactly. The boy's my son.”

“You're right. Your calculations are exact.” Pranaja looked at the computer in front of him. “But I can't get into the information center without the help of the person who has access to it, Al. That's hospital policy. I'd really like to help you. Really.”

“I understand.” said Miles slowly. He let out a long breath. “I don't want you to get in trouble at your job because of me.”

“What information do you want to know?” pranaja wanted to know.

“Name, weight, body length. Was he born with normal or surgery? Are there any complications that occur during the delivery process? I also want to know if he has a congenital disease or a disability. Immunization of whatever it is. I just want to know what I've missed, Pranaja.”

“Why not ask that directly to his mother? You said he was now working for you.” suggested Pranaja.

“I proposed to her, three times, and she rejected me on all three occasions. Three times, Pranaja. He hid the boy's whereabouts from me, which means he doesn't want me to know. If I ask him, he won't give me an answer. I can be sure he will disappear the next day. He once left me, he won't hesitate to do it again. Tell me, how do I ask him without making him run away from me?”

“I'm sorry, Al.” Pranaja shook his head in concern.

“Thank you, Pranaja. It's nice to talk to you. Sorry, I burden you with my personal problems. I'll think of another way. I love them both. It's just that I don't know how to make that woman trust me.” Miles combed his hair bangs back with both hands, trying to calm himself down.

“You ever lied to him?” guess Pranaja. Miles nodded slowly.

“You will definitely find the way out.” Pranaja extended his hand.

“I hope so too. Thank you for your time.” Miles shook his best friend's hand.

Miles' heart raged as he exited Pranaja's room to his car. He should not know information about his own son. His son! Meeting Kirana directly won't solve the problem. Kirana must be panicking. Miles needs a way he can convince Kirana that they can be happy together. A weekend together in Singapore turned out to not give results at all.

Returning to his office, Kemala did not ask or protest seeing his delay. His assistant smiled meaningfully at him instead. Miles looked around him, yes, the woman smiled at him. He entered his room, Kemala followed him from behind. After sitting down, he invited the woman to read his schedule on this day.

“What's with your smile?” ask Miles wonder.

“It's been ten years I work for you, never once have you been late to the office. You are never late for three hours. I'm glad it turns out you're a normal human too.” Godanya. “Oh, yes. Ibu Kirana came to deliver something for you.”

“Thank you.” He waited until Kemala came out of his room before picking up the envelope on his desk.

Miles smiled. Without needing to open it, he already knew what it contained. But he kept opening it. And the assumption is right. A letter of resignation. He tore it up twice, then pressed the number on the intercom in front of him. He asked Kemala to come to his room. The woman entered with a cheerful face. The face changed when he saw the tearing of the letter Miles had given him.

“I don't understand, Sir.” Kemala frowned.

“Talk to Mother Kirana, my answer is no.” Miles signs the only document on the table and gives it to him.

“Good, Sir.” said Kemala comply.

“I'll be out now, if there's an important and urgent phone call, report it to me. All these reports I'm gonna check in the car. Are there any urgent documents I need to sign now?” Miles stood up and re-butted his suit.

“No, Sir. Will you be back after the afternoon meeting with the mayor?” ask Kemala while walking with Miles out of his room.

“Iya. I'm gonna get this report back to the table. If I haven't come back by the time I get home, you can go home.” Miles pressed the elevator button to open it.

“Good, Sir. Thank you.” he said happy.

The lunch meeting and meeting that afternoon could not take his mind off Kirana and his son. How should he handle this? How do I get them both? There's only one way it keeps playing in its head. The original plan. Maybe he needs to focus on that plan. Makes Kirana pregnant so she has to marry him.

Miles smiled. That's an easy plan to work on. Too easy, in fact. Impatiently waiting for tomorrow he drew up his step by step plan inside his head. No. gabe. He doesn't need any plan. He simply came to see Kirana and made sure they were alone. Next, everything will go naturally. Because all this time their relationship was physically very natural. And that's enough.
