The Unforgettable Story

The Unforgettable Story
Section 34

Before the cause of his wife's death was known, he could not calm down. He let the police take his wife's cell phone and laptop for inspection. All the questions they asked him, he answered honestly. He sat in the front room drinking milk prepared by his maid, unable to see the situation of the room let alone the bathroom. Markus was also in the room with him, getting ready if his strength was needed.

“We will do an autopsy to find out what really happened. Although I'm sure your wife died from a lot of blood loss. But there is no harm in finding another cause. Would you allow us to do it?” ask Pranaja. Miles nodded.

“Of course. Please.”

Pranaja moved his hand towards the medics who had stuffed his wife's body into the body bag. Signalling that they can take him. They took him in a wheeled bed. Her doctor approached her as soon as medics were near her front door.

“I bring nausea medicine if you need some.” he said offer. Miles nodded slowly.

“No need. Wanda already gave me a glass of milk. My condition is better.”

“Good. Immediately tell me if you need anything.” said Pranaja. Miles nodded slowly. “You want to come in the ambulance, in my car, or want to go to the hospital in your own car?”

“With my own car.” Miles combed his hair with his hands. Pranaja patted her shoulder slowly and then walked out of the room. He couldn't have let Mark drive alone. Not only him, everyone who lives in his house must also feel devastated by what just happened. They have lived with him and his wife for twenty years.

Without waiting for orders from him, Markus walked out of the room. Miles followed him a few minutes later after asking Wanda not to worry about anything. Markus followed Pranaja's car and the ambulance was in the front row. The police did not participate because they had to return to their headquarters to continue the examination of the evidence they found.

Fifteen minutes later they arrived at the hospital. Miles asked the driver to wait in the car. The man complies. In front of the autopsy room, a woman asked him to follow her. A few pieces of paper were handed to him. He is welcome to read it carefully before signing the signature. Waiting for the autopsy results of his wife's body, he was welcome home. The doctor will tell you the results.

His phone shook as Markus drove his car out of the hospital parking lot. Miles pulled his phone out of his pants pocket. He closed his eyes as soon as he saw the name on the screen. He took a deep breath and then took it out slowly.

“Mom,” said after believing he could control himself.

“Alastair! Happy anniversary!” said Amanda cheerfully. Her mother. Happy wedding anniversary. Miles closed his eyes for a moment. He was not ready to take a call from them.

“Thank you, Mom.” replied.

“You don't sound happy. What's up?” ask her mother to worry. He knew that he would not succeed in covering up his current feelings. In any case, what had just happened was a big event for him.

Miles was silent for a moment. He considered whether he should be honest or hide what was going on from his parents. They never know what really happened to their marriage. He didn't want to worry them. They live far away from him. If they knew he was facing a problem, they would definitely insist on coming to visit him. At the moment he does not want to add to their burden.

“Much has happened. I've been lying to Mom and Dad.” Miles massaged the top of his nose. His head suddenly hurt.

“Honey, you scared me.” Amanda said again. Miles took a deep breath. He had to say it to them, it was no longer any use for him to lie. It was better for them to hear this directly from him than to hear from others, who knew the Angelica family was desperate to contact her parents.

“Me and Angelica have been unhappy for the last ten years, Mom.” Miles said slowly. I heard a surprised breath from across the phone.

“What happened?” ask her mother in a sad voice. Miles hates conversations like this. He doesn't like to see his parents sad.

“We can't have children, Angelica is very disappointed in me.” Miles let out a quick sigh as the air grew harder to breathe.

“I know, Dad. But my wife wants it so badly.”

“Do you guys plan to split?”

“No, Dad. It's worse. Please, Mom and Dad sit down first and take a deep breath.” She heard Shane and Amanda talking together. Silent moment. But he knew they were doing what he asked.

“Nak, you scared us.” Amanda said slowly.

“I'm scared too, Mom.” Miles sniffling. He can't hold it anymore. “Angelica died. I found her in the bathroom over a pool of her own blood. I don't know what's really going on. I just got home from work and, and I found him dead. I just got out of the hospital and allowed them to do an autopsy.”

“We will come.” Shane said firmly.

“No, Dad. I beg you, don't.” said Miles quickly. “At the beginning of this year you just had a mild heart attack. I don't want your situation to get worse.”

“I can't possibly let my son fight on his own.” Shane insisted.

“I have Pranaja and Charles helping me, Dad. Don'worry. They're good friends. Once all the business here is done, I'll come see you guys.”

“Appointment?” ask Shane gently.

“I promise, Dad.” Miles tried to convince her.

Miles sees Markus deflecting a car into his yard. There is a little relief to be back at his house, as well as guilt. The view she saw in the bathroom would not be forgotten. But that's a problem he'll think about later. Right now he just wants to rest.

“I've arrived home.” report to his parents.

“Markus who drives?” asked his father in a worried tone that warmed Miles' chest. She loves her parents who never stop treating her as their only child.

“Iya, Dad.” he replied with a smile on his face.

“Good. We'll call again tomorrow afternoon. Now, rest.”

“We love you, baby.” timpal mama.

“Thank you, Dad, Mom. I love you both.”

Not wanting to see blood on the bathroom floor, she chose to sleep in another room. The bathroom door was closed so she did not need to look at it when she took some of her clothes from the clothes room. He deliberately left the bathroom not cleaned or touched until the autopsy results came out. If this was a murder, he would not have wanted the authorities to lose the evidence they needed. Even if they've been checking the room for hours.

For now he just wants to rest. The results of the autopsy and the police investigation will be considered later.
