The seminar on the second day went well. Kirana is very grateful to Miles for forcing her to attend. He learned a lot about international marketing. Invited speakers are people who are competent in the field and have decades of experience.
If on the first day Miles allowed him to spend time with them, today he would not leave his side. His attitude made the speakers tease them whenever they talked to Kirana at recess for snacks and lunch. Kirana just smiled.
Before returning to the hall, Kirana took a break to go to the toilet. In one of the empty rooms, he sat on a toilet seat, and pulled out his cell phone. She chose her home phone number, Helen answered the phone. She had to wait for the woman to call her son so they could talk.
“Mommy!” William's cheers were heard from across. Kirana's tears fell down her cheeks. He misses his son.
“Hai, Will. How are you?” kirana asked longingly.
“Good, Mom. But if you don't come home tonight, I'll be sick.” William threatened. Kirana laughed a little. “I'm serious, Mom. I'm not kidding.” Kirana knew she wasn't kidding.
“I'm home tonight. Don't worry.” Kirana said seriously. “What are you doing?”
“Nonton Finding Nemo.” William spoke again in a cheerful voice. Kirana laughs.
“Again? You're not bored?” kirana Goda.
“The picture of the fish is good, Mom. Orange, white, black, blue. The jokes are funny too. Many marine plants are beautiful.” he said half daydreamed. “Film is full color.”
“I agree. Her father has managed to find her son?” ask Kirana. He almost cried hearing his own words. The film reminds her of her son's story. Father William. Miles. And he was planning to keep them away so they never met. But he has to do this. She was worried that if she came out bluntly, she would lose her son.
“Not yet. But soon I will reach that part.” he reported. Kirana lets him talk at length about the film and the opinions he has heard every time his son watches the film.
“What about Miss Helen? Does he treat you well?” kirana asked softly, almost whispering. He didn't want the young woman to hear it if he was near William.
“Iya, Mom. I can shower and change my clothes. He's the one who cooks. But he loves to call and stare at his phone all the time. You are more fun than him.” complained his son.
Kirana frowned. He doesn't like hearing that. Helen promised to take good care of her son. That includes watching him while on the move. He shouldn't be playing with his phone all the time. He would not leave his son under the supervision of the girl again. William also had to move into daycare. He's not safe at the daycare.
“I can't take long. The seminar is about to begin. See you later tonight.” said Kirana heavily after seeing the hands on her watch.
“OK, Mom. I miss you.” said William cheerfully.
“I miss you too.” Kirana cut off their phone connection.
Kirana checked her face in front of the mirror before coming out of the toilet. His appearance is still good. He shrieked softly, surprised to see Miles standing before him as he opened the door. The man smiled and walked over to her. She placed her hand on Kirana's lower back and kissed her cheek. The woman almost cried feeling Miles' touch calm her down. He hated lying to that man.
But what if he misread the nature of people again? He had never seen the man angry. What if his true nature comes out when he's angry? His body was big and he was definitely not a weak man. Even though he had never physically hurt her, it did not mean that he would never do it someday.
“We're in now?” asked Miles to throw his daydream. Not daring to make a sound, Kirana just nodded her head. Miles did not move his hands from his back until they were back in their seats.
The seminar ended at three in the afternoon. They immediately returned to the room without enjoying the afternoon snack that had been served to catch their flight back to Jakarta. A waiter came to take their suitcase downstairs. After making sure none of their belongings were left behind, they marched to the elevator.
The same black sedan car was again waiting for them in front of the main door. He looked towards Miles. The man thanked a hotel employee and helped Kirana get into the car. He complies. The man then sat by his side and closed the door. The driver drives the car without anyone's orders.
“Do you rent this car? We took this car from the airport to the hotel. Last night at Marina Bay Sands we also took this car. Today we go to the airport by the same car.”
“I didn't rent it. This is my friend's car, which has the hotel we're staying at. He gave me full facilities whenever I visited this country. I can't stay at another hotel, it has to be at this hotel.” Miles laughed a little.
“Oh, yes. You said it once. What's name?” ask Kirana to know. He heard his name before but he forgot and could not remember it.
“Gregory. You met him on the first day of the seminar.” Miles reminded. Yes, that was when she remembered hearing about him and meeting him. How could he forget?
“Sometimes I forget who you really are. Naturally you are friends with conglomerates like the owner of this hotel. You are also a conglomerate.” Kirana murmured. Miles has a company with several branch offices in Indonesia. He's not an ordinary man.
“What does that mean to you I'm not as rich as them?” miles Goda.
“I've never thought that way about you before. Although last night we had dinner at Marina Bay Sands which must have been very expensive, staying overnight in a suite at a five-star hotel, you never gave the impression that you were a wealthy man. Maybe I'm used to being with you so I don't realize it.” Kirana said in surprise. Miles laughed a little.
“I'd rather if you thought I was. Sometimes it's hard to hide my true identity because of my lifestyle. But in this country, I can be free to express because I am only a stranger.” he said in a relieved tone.
“But it doesn't keep you away from the temptations of other women who cross paths with you.” Kirana's tease.
“You're jealous?” Miles raised one eyebrow. Kirana hit her arm half-jokingly.
“I'm not jealous. You never return their gaze or seduction.”
“Good. Always remember that.” He caressed Kirana's hand. The woman smiled.
When they arrived at the airport, Kirana's heart was pounding rapidly. Soon everything will have to end. Miles gets out of the car first and extends his hand to help Kirana get out of the car. Their suitcase has been moved the driver of the car into a trolley. Miles shook his hand and thanked him.
