I'm Not Daria

I'm Not Daria
Faked

"Why?" I asked with a frown. His reaction scared me.

He lowered his expression and smiled as if he did not look stressed a few seconds ago, "he is very tired. We had a very nice night and he must have slept. Let's not bother him"

"Oh," I sat back down. "OK,"

Luna kept looking at us and then leaned over to whisper something in my ear.

"We need to talk about you and Devan but not now, he'll be suspicious. I'll be back today, maybe in the afternoon and we'll talk about what happened between the two of you. Get ready because I'll interrogate you as if you were a criminal"

I gulped as he pulled away. Of course we need to talk about what happened between Devan and I don't know what it is.

I'm sure Luna will ask if I'm just pretending to like her for her money. I knew he was going to be rude to me. But I don't blame him.

He only protects those he cares about

"okay." I said softly

"What did you say?" Devan asked, staring at us with puzzled furrowed brows and one ear closing in on us to try to hear what he was saying.

"It's only things between two best friends that are none of your business." He retorted and grabbed his bag and turned around, hitting it with the tip of his bag, intentionally or not, I don't know.

Devan rubbed his punched cheek and glared at his back as he exited the kitchen.

I was still thinking about Devan and Luna's fake relationship not realizing that I was left alone with her again. When I realized it, I immediately took out a tray that had previously been filled with sandwiches, but now there was only coffee left that was cold, so I decided to leave it there for a while because the more important thing for me is to get out of there without Devan stopping me.

"Where are you going?" He asked as I walked towards the door

"To my room."

"Don't go too fast." It felt like a hand as Devan pulled me back and ended up in his lap "You still haven't said anything about my confession. What answer?"

"Devan. We can't do this."

"Why? You already know by now that Luna and I were just in a fake relationship. There's nothing between us, "

"No. That's my answer. Not ". I tried to get up but he wouldn't let me.

"If you're bothered by the fact that we're still dating a fake, I can talk to Luna and tell her that I can't do it anymore."

"No, don't do that kind of thing. I just don't want this don't want us-"

"Women are really confusing. We know we like each other but you don't want us to be together. It doesn't make sense"

I put my hand on his chest. "Please I have my reasons.I can't tell you."

He sighed. "All right, I'm not gonna force you. You may not be ready for a relationship right now, especially with me"

"Something like that."

Then he smiled mischievously on his face.

"I won't force an answer from you. But don't blame me if you're tempted to give me an answer"

"What does that mean?"

"You'll know. But either way, I'll wait for you, until you're with me"

I didn't say anything, couldn't promise something that even I myself wasn't sure of.

While I was busy with my thoughts, Devan took the opportunity to steal a kiss from me. It was a simple kiss on the lips like before, but I still glared at him for it.

"You said you wouldn't do that without my permission."

"Yes, that's the case from now on, from this very second."

I rolled my eyeballs. "I'm going back to my room." I got up from his lap and he allowed me to stretch my hand over my body and yawn.

"Okay, good night"

"Good night to you. You look like you haven't slept all night. And it looks like you're going to sleep now"

"You're right"

.....

I woke up around afternoon. Everyone has lunch. I'm hungry and the new cook appointed to replace Mario prepares food for me. I immediately disliked the new cook even though I felt foolish and childish to do so. He didn't do anything wrong but I still hold a bit of grudge against Devan

After I had lunch, Luna showed up shortly afterwards, being in my room when she came in, without knocking on the door or asking me for permission, but I thought she didn't need my permission for that. He can do anything he wants and I'll never have the guts to question him.

He locked the door behind him and I gulped, sitting upright on my bed

"So I'm going to get straight to the point because there are so many other things to do that you should be happy to take the time for this". Luna said, without further ado

"OKAY. What do you want to ask?"

He dragged a chair to where he was sitting and he sat on it, crossing one leg over the other

"How did this happen?" He asked, his face stiff

I took a deep breath before replying, "This is it. "To be honest, I don't know. One day we were friends and then suddenly we started to have feelings for each other"

"What are your intentions with Devan?"

"I-I don't have any intentions with him. I just like it."

"You're not pretending to like it for the money, are you? He's arching an eyebrow"

"I would never do that to anyone. I really like it".

I said honestly despite knowing she wouldn't trust me right away

"Why should I trust you? How are you gonna convince me that, that's the truth?"

"Luna. I don't know how to prove it. I'm telling the truth.I'm not crazy treasure"

Luna looked clueless as to what to say, but after a few minutes she asked me something I had been afraid of the answer to, "Did she know you were Darla? Does he know your true identity?"

My shoulders slumped in defeat. "No, he doesn't know".

"Sounds that he doesn't like you. She thought Daria was the one she liked, but the truth was that she liked strangers. He doesn't even know you exist, I can't let you play with his heart like that."

"I don't plan to do that either. I can't stop her from liking me, but I can prevent her from liking me anymore."

I don't know if I can do this, whether I can remain unaffected by his charm and say that I don't like him in front of him.

He nodded in agreement. "Good, you have to tell her that you don't like her anymore. Give him a credible reason. That'll be easier. Just tell her that you still like Daria's ex, what's the name of that jerk, ah, Raka, and you'll mess up her feelings. He'll get hurt but it's best for him because we just saved him from a big heartbreak. You agree with me on this, don't you?"

"Yes," I muttered. It feels like I have no choice.

"Hold her feelings. I hate to say this and it may not be my place to tell you, but she deserves better. I don't mean to insult you or your economic status who used to be a poor orphan who was very lucky to be adopted by a rich family, but I won't forget where it came from, so don't think that I'm degrading you."

I'm nodding. "I understand." But I'm hurt.

He put his hand on my shoulder. "If you really like it, it would be hard to say that you don't like it, but I'm not forcing you even though I would be very happy if you did. Please try to understand me. I'm just trying to protect her but I'm not as strong as human emotions. If your feelings for each other are strong enough, I'm sure you'll challenge me and I can't blame you. The heart makes us do what we want, but I try my best. So, work with me as best you can."

"okay"

He gave a nod. "good. I'm going to go now."

After she left, I couldn't control my tears. What he asked of me was very heavy. I was glad that Devan and Luna were just in a fake relationship and foolishly thought that maybe it was okay. Maybe I can be with him and tell him who I really am.

Maybe he will accept me and like me. But I was returned to the real world. We come from two different and incompatible worlds. This is impossible. Even if we were together, it would only be temporary. One day he'll know about everything and will feel hurt and betrayed and won't even take me back. It will only make us cry and heartbreak.

Everything is not as easy as imagined. Our problems run deeper than we anticipated, and the only way to survive through them is by not being together.
