I ran after him, hoping to catch up with him, almost losing him but forcing my legs to run faster until it hurt.
He must have felt me behind him because he turned his head for a split second and smirked towards me. He chuckles and it drives me crazy. I know what he's thinking. He probably thought that I wouldn't be able to catch him and he could win easily. I would love to see his face when I prove him wrong.
I was very quick and fought hard to keep up. He paused for a moment and turned sharply to the left even though his room was on the right. He might have expected me to follow him, but I didn't feel that was what I had to do...
I walked down the hallway, and stopped in front of Meta's room. He arrived after a few minutes with an annoyed look on his face,
"I thought you'd follow me."
I grinned. "Not everyone is a fool like you. What's on your mind?"
He shrugged his shoulders. "Just thinking of pushing you into the storage room or something."
"It's a shame you can't do that."
"It's not a problem either. You can't stop me."
"Try." I'm saying.
I don't know if I can hold him back any longer than he does, but I will give my best and hope he takes more time than I do.
Despite being afraid of this, I had no other choice. I didn't manage to catch him before, so this is the last thing I can do to win this round.
He moves and I follow in sync. He narrowed his eyes at me as I blocked the path to his room. He stepped forward and gripped my shoulder before violently pushing me aside. I stumbled a little but managed to catch myself. At that moment he had managed to pull out the key and was just about to put it into the keyhole. I panicked, I ran towards him and jumped towards him from behind.
My plan was to not physically hold him back because it was almost impossible for me to do so. My plan was to take the key and take it away
He flinched backwards due to the sudden burden on his back. He tried to scratch me but I stuck to him like glue. I closed my eyes with one hand and used the other to retrieve the key.
As soon as the key was in my hand, I jumped from it and ran as fast as I could.
Devan chased after me who ran from room to room and tried to slow him down as much as possible.
He chased me for a while until I didn't hear him back. I turned around because he wasn't everywhere.
I slowed down and warily looked around. I knew he would pounce on me unexpectedly, so I increased my vigilance.
I didn't find it for a long time and started to wonder if I won this match. It must have been over thirteen minutes and two seconds, right? And he hasn't found the riddle either.
I decided to go to the living room to see what happened. When I turned the corner, a door opened behind me and I was pulled into the darkness. Unaware of how it all happened but suddenly I was standing alone in a dark, empty room with a key missing from my hand.
That jerk.
He had locked me in here, I concluded after trying to open the door
I looked around and turned on the lights and decided to wait until someone came.
I was in some kind of storage room.I suspect Devan wanted to push me into this room earlier.
After about ten minutes, the door finally opened and Anna appeared. He looked happy and could only hope that I had won this one.
"Come on. Devan has completed his task. We just need to know the time."
I don't need to be told twice. I jumped from the bean bag that was there and followed it into the living room
"So?" I asked expectantly when I saw Gio
"so what?" Gio asked, irritating me. It was already impatient after being pushed into the storage room and he extended his torture.
"What time?"
"The time is.." he paused for a dramatic effect.Nineteen minutes ten seconds, the, plus ten minutes minus twenty-six minutes and fifty seconds plus five seconds multiplied by two and then divided by three, plus one hour minus fifty-two minutes and thirty-eight seconds-
"Gio, shut up and tell me the right time!
"right time!" I know, it's almost punching Gio right now if he keeps this up
"Whoa, okay. I'll tell you. It's nineteen minutes and ten seconds."
"Seriously?" I asked, initially in disbelief, but she nodded convincingly and I could not help but grin with satisfaction. I have won this match and am very proud of myself for beating him.
He looked towards Devan who was sitting on one of the sofas with a blank look on his face.
"So, ready for the third and final round?" Anna asked.
"of course. I'm ready to win." I answered.
Devan grunts. "Don't be too confident."
"No. I just know I'm gonna win." I retaliated.
Winning the second round gave me new confidence and I knew I was going to win it. I've never been so sure of anything before, other than now I'm going to win this round.
"Let's sit! I'll give you three of the six papers you collected." Gio said with six pieces of paper in his hand. "You're only given one minute for each puzzle.
Anna and Gio decide which riddle to give to whom and finally reach a decision.
Anna gives me three puzzles and Gio gives Devan three others.
"You can destroy me without touching or even seeing me. What am I?"
The first one is pretty easy. At first I had trouble finding the answer for about fifteen seconds, but then the answer just popped into my mind.
"A promise!" I exclaimed
"How many seconds are there in a year?"
It's very confusing to me. Surely it's not about counting seconds in a year, I can go crazy.
Seconds. Seconds. Seconds. Second what?
It can't be months. So maybe a few days!
"Fifteen more seconds, Daria hurry up".
"Twelve!"
"How's it?"
"There are twelve seconds in a year. January 2 to December 2."
"Good work," Anna said as she handed me my last card.
I exhaled through my mouth. This one's gonna be tough.
"There is a house with four walls. All the walls face south. A bear surrounded the house. What color is that bear?"
It's been tough. How do you know the color of this bear?
"Read this puzzle carefully. A home. Wall Facing South Wall Facing South"
Walls. South facing. So they might be in the North? A bear circled the house, and the house was in the North
North.
"Is the bear brown?"
"No."
I racked my brain to look for possible answers
North. At the North Pole maybe?
North Pole. Polar bear Polar bear White bear!
"White!" I said along with Anna who announced that there was ten seconds left
"Yes, yes," Anna screamed in excitement as she hugged me
"How is it?" . Anna asked me
"Well, the wall of the house was facing south so it was at the North Pole. So the bear is a polar bear and it's very white".
"Okay, you've answered all three. Now it's Devan's turn. Maybe there'll be a draw, so we'll have to think of something else just in case."
"I've won but okay"
"That overconfidence won't take you anywhere" Devan sneered at me.
"Well, it's taken me this far, so I don't see any use."
She chose to ignore me when Gio gave her a riddle.
"How many bananas can you eat if your stomach is empty?
"Are you serious? Is this even a riddle?"
"Then what's the answer, you know what, you know" I said
"One, after that your stomach isn't empty anymore."
"That's great, Devan". Gio cheered and I just grunted while crossing my arms in front of my chest, waiting for him to tell me the second riddle.
"What is the name for an Amish man who chews with his hands in the mouth of a horse." Devan read and paused for a moment.
His brows frowned in confusion, yet he finally replied after about twenty seconds. "A mechanic"
"That's right"
Devan sighed and took the final riddle.
"A magician promises that he can throw the ball at his best and make it stop, change direction and come back to him. He claims that he can do it without the ball bouncing off anything, the ball being tied to anything, or using a magnet, how is that possible?" He read slowly as if what he had just read was completely foreign to him.
He scratched his head and gave various answers but none of them were right. Soon, he was frustrated that his time was running out.
"Come, buddy. It's very simple. You definitely can," Gio cheered vigorously. Devan seemed more bothered by it.
"The time is up" Anna sings and I scream, followed by Anna joining me. "You won"!
And Devan has lost. very happy. We finally came to a conclusion. I was the best of both of us
"Dam. The magician throws his ball into the air," Devan groaned.
"Too late, mate," said Anna laughing at his face and with annoyance she got up and walked away.
"You won!"
"I declare Daria the winner. Congratulations". said Gio with a frown and chasing devan.
