It's been a week since I visited my aunt. I was comfortable with my college schedule like before and there was no difference in my routine, except when I no longer woke up at five in the morning to get ready and go jogging. now I wake up at eight for nine o'clock like a sane student and Anna is proud of it. He was happy because I no longer knocked on his door at dawn, asking for company while jogging. Admittedly, it feels great to be able to get an extra three hours of sleep every day.
It's been a week but Devan hasn't come to see me yet. Do I have to despair and move on? but it is still too early to make that decision, of course it would be considered too late if he were to show up now. But I miss him so much, miss him so much that every brunette guy makes me think that it's him, just to be disappointed.
Anna and I are friends again. Bella called the day after Gio visited us and asked us. She told us that Daria was getting fussy and upset about having to keep her attitude as a well-behaved girl and she almost just didn't care and was herself.
There was no call from anyone after that and we didn't call them either. Finally, it is now a weekend and Anna has made plans with her other friends to watch the movie and get together with them. He invited me, but I refused because his group of friends were completely different and unsuitable. It would just be awkward and I wanted to avoid trouble for both of us.
I plan to finish my work at the cafe and then go back to my apartment to relax with popcorn and watch a movie alone.
...
When I approached my apartment, there was a car parked outside. It was the kind of car Devan was driving. Did he really come. I became very dizzy and excited. I quickly ran to my room and climbed the stairs faster than before.
I was so disappointed not to find him waiting at my doorstep, I searched the whole building and thought he didn't know my apartment number, but it wasn't. I can't find him anywhere. The building was small so it didn't take much time to search but he was still not found.
With a broken heart, I trudged back to my room and slammed the door hard behind me until a cracking sound rang out but I did not bother to check the damage.
I regret not remembering the license plate number. But who owns the car? Nobody in this neighborhood is rich enough to buy that car
I was not interested in continuing my previous plan of watching movies and eating popcorn, so I immediately put myself in bed, hoping to fall asleep.
But I can't. All I could do was stare at the ceiling and listen to all the sounds my ears could pick up. A car ignited outside and drove away. I wish it was a car that excited me for no reason, I heard someone arguing about something but their voice was too faint to understand. Then there were the sounds of footsteps getting louder as they went upstairs. I was sure they would pass me but they stopped right in front of my door. I sit.
It took the full five seconds for the person to knock on my door. I told myself not to expect too much. It might be the homeowner or Anna who forgot to bring something or the pizza deliveryman who mis-addressed.
I opened the door without looking through the peephole. He stood there holding a red rose but I doubted my vision.
I stepped towards him and looked at him with narrowed eyes. He smiled at me as he reached out his hand and carefully poked his cheek. My fingertips are warm and soft. He's really here. Devan? My prince?
"Devan-?" I whispered, still in disbelief.
"I'm sorry, I'm taking too long, aren't I?" He held a rose towards me. "What a beautiful rose to you that is so beautiful."
I felt my eyes warm as the onslaught of hot tears began to flow.
"You're coming" I launched myself towards her, wrapped my hands around her waist and began to wet her clothes with my tears. We stumbled back on my strength but he grabbed me and calmed me down.
I cried quite loudly and worriedly disturbed the neighbors with my deafening cry, but at that moment I did not care. He wrapped his hands around my shoulders, stroked my hair and swung us back and forth a little
We stayed that way for some time before I finally withdrew. She wiped my tears with the back of her hand that was not holding a flower.
I grabbed her hand and put my fingers into her fingers, "Come on."
I pulled him into the room and closed the door. He handed her the slightly clumped flowers as we hugged.put them in a vase and turned towards her. We sat on my bed.
"I'm sorry, Devan. I know you knew right from the start and I still shamelessly lie in front of your face. I don't know if you're gonna believe me because of this . I'm so sorry and didn't mean to do it. I was planning to tell you after the party but then I went to mess things up and was afraid of what would happen".
I kept babbling.I wanted to take out everything I felt and tell him why I did that.
"Hey, hey I know" He cupped my cheeks so I looked straight into his eyes. "I know everything, okay? I was a little hurt when you didn't tell me before starting dating me but I understand that you can't possibly do it. I found your letter a few days ago and I know it's not always about your choice."
"Do you hate me?" I asked with fear.
He breathed through his mouth. "Of course not. Never does. I've always loved you and will continue to do so." There was tenderness in his eyes and his words were a tender caress that was a relief
"I love you too, Devan. More than you know. But accept my apology and I hope you forgive me for everything I've done."
"I've forgiven you for a long time" he said, making me feel relieved at the burden that had been pressing on my throat.
I hugged him again, refusing to let go. I need to feel his touch to remind myself again and again that this is not a dream. His heartbeat was melodious music in my ears, spreading warmth around me that was rather quiet and cold.
We pull away. "What took you so long?" ask me a question that scares me to answer.
"I want to give both of us time. Even though we know about you, we still need it. Besides, Luna won't let me go to you and if I'm against it, maybe I won't live and neither of us will be happy. My brave attitude only lasted until what you heard on that phone call, plus I moved back to my house and my father closely monitored how I worked afterwards. It was almost impossible to escape his surveillance"
I'm nodding. "Of course I'm glad you didn't let me in on the sidelines of your work, especially when your father was watching. So, is that your car parked in front of the building?"
"Yes, that's mine. Why?"
"I saw it and thought you were coming so I looked for you everywhere but you weren't there. Where are you going?"
"I went to buy flowers for you. I walked there because the road was narrow and the car didn't fit."
"Oh."
"Did you miss me so much?"
"Yes a little"
It was only to punish him a little for coming ten days late.
He frowned. "That sucks, but I miss you a lot. And you're just a little?."
"Then you can at least call! All this time my anxiety shot to the crown and I thought you'd never want to see me again."
He's laughing a little. "I'm sorry, but I feel like whatever needs to be said has to be done directly."
I concur. "So what happened there?"
"Huh, Daria will never change. He still remains the same even after two years! He's annoying and naughty, I suspect the day you came back and Daria suddenly turned good. He didn't even eat for a week to blend into his role. He cried this morning and confessed everything to your parents and they were shocked. Madame Daralyn almost fainted and completely shook her daughter to the point that she was dizzy to ask where the two of you were, I was there and told her to know. He sends Daria back with another man to bring the other girl, Darina".
"So you know about us now?"
"Yes, your mother told me everything. She did not tell her other children that two of the triplets were kidnapped so no one knew. You were both kidnapped when you were very young and that man faked your death..."
He closed his eyes and shook his head firmly as if to get rid of unpleasant thoughts. He opened his eyes.
"But everyone is confused as to how this could have happened, how the two of you survived and still retained your real name after being adopted into a different family."
But I knew exactly what had happened and told him.
"I'm sorry for you, Darla. I'm so glad you're okay and going back to your real family." He kissed my forehead. "What you're going through is terrible. I won't let anything hurt you again."
"And I'll never hurt you again or let anyone hurt you" I promise.
After we calmed down, I asked. "But why are you there? You said you'd moved back"
"It's true, but every morning I always visit your house before working to water our garden. Do you think I'd forget to water it? Also take care of Daisy you left behind."
"Oh my God, you keep watering it? And I miss Daisy so much, Luna told me that she'd look after her. Is she okay?"
"Of course." He pulled his phone out of his pocket. "This is what you missed."
He showed me all the photos of Plowy and the photos he took from the park every day. I could see some growth from the first day since it was abandoned until this morning.
"They grew well." I squinted at something that caught my attention in the photo and laughed. "Why did you scratch the letter i in Daria's name so brutally?"
I laughed, I saw the letter i in Daria's name connected to l so that it formed Darla's name.
"That's great. That's what it wants. You don't know how horrified it was to write Daria's name that Darla wanted to write. He kept making fun of our garden and I sprayed tomato sauce all over his hair and face." Replied annoyed.
