I'm Not Daria

I'm Not Daria
Gio

"Gio" I whispered to his depressed form.

"Please tell me it's a lie!"

I didn't say anything because I couldn't lie to him. He should have known, but not in this way.

He turned around and looked at me with teary eyes. My face shows the fact that no, it's not a lie. His face was crinkling with pain.

He held my shoulder and shook it. "No, please tell me it's all a lie. You-you're pranking me, right? This isn't funny. Stop that!."

"I'm sorry, you have to find it like this" I said slowly.

He's releasing me. "No."

He stepped forward and walked past me into the room.I followed him.

Anna looked surprised and scared. "Glho."

He looked like he wanted to scream but once he got close enough to her, his eyes dropped to his flat stomach.

"I'm sorry" I was sad to see Anna so devastated, she could barely get the words out.

"Why did you do it? Give me a reason why you didn't tell me. Something that can justify this injustice to me. Something that makes me feel better"

"I-I have my own reasons."

"What's that excuse?"

"You have to understand. Not sure if you want to have a child with me. Fearful. Not ready."

"How can you just assume I don't want it? You didn't even think to tell me. You don't even plan to tell me! You would never have told me if it wasn't for Daria!!!."

"How much do you hear?"

"Everything."

Her eyes kept flickering occasionally to the anatomical part of Anna who had once held the beautiful baby they had created.

"I'll tell you soon. You're correct. I didn't want to, but Daria convinced me and vowed to tell you in a few days."

He rubbed his hands against his face. "Why have you been ignoring me all this time?"

"I'm afraid you're gonna find out about this and think you're gonna tell me to drop it."

"But why do you think that? What have you done that you think that way?"

"You're not doing anything. I'm afraid you don't want the news to spread. I think I'm going to ruin your image.I'm afraid I'm going to be called a mad woman's treasure. You don't know this, but I'm just a student. working part-time and barely being able to support and care for myself, how could I possibly care for a baby. I can't do it. I'm not ready for this. Please understand." Anna begged.

"I really hope you'll tell me that you'll support you and our baby. I'll marry you if you're okay with it. I love you, Anna. It starts with a small feeling but then cannot see myself without you. But you can't do anything about it because you're always running away from me. I thought maybe you didn't like me back, so I accepted. But you hid it from me. I'm hurt." Gio winked tears, but he could only hold it for so long. He looks tired.

"My dear," he muttered, closing the distance between her and Anna, caressing her stomach.

Anna poked on Gio's hand which was in his stomach "I'm so sorry"

Gio fell to the ground, his eyes red and swollen as tears streamed down his cheeks. She held onto Anna's hand while crying.

"It was my baby too, I didn't even know she was there and I knew it was too late."

This seemed to awaken Gio from his despair and he struggled to get up. When he finally stood up, he pulled her into a tight embrace. "No, no, no, no, no, I can't forgive you now, but please, Anna, don't disappear again. I want you."

He shook his head while smiling sadly. "You deserve someone better. I'm not good enough for you"

Gio shook his head towards him. "No, please. Don't do that. We can-we can go back to how we used to be. We can start from the beginning."

"That's not a good idea"

Anna looked at me for help. All this time I just stood awkwardly beside her as the two of them resolved their problems, nothing good happened in the end.

I stepped forward and grabbed Gio's arm,

"Gio, don't worry. He's still here. Maybe you two should give yourself some time to think things through. It's been a tough day for both of you"

He didn't say anything, so I started pulling him out of the room and he didn't mind. Anna and Gio still looked at each other as they closed the door of his room. I put a calming hand on his back and led him out. Luna and Bella were sitting in the living room.

"Gio, what are you doing here?" Bella asked when she saw her sister. "Why are you crying?" He asked with worry. Then she combined the two things, she screamed, "Oh my God, that's your baby!"

Bella did not know that it was Gio's baby until now.

"Even you didn't tell me." His words were directed at Luna. Bella throws questions at him but he ignores her.

He sighed. "Gio, believe me, I wanted to do it but I promised him not to do it. I'm sure you'd be responsible but he didn't want you to know. And I know you would definitely tell her not to abort him and personally I think that's best for both of you. He is still in college and you are young. It was an unexpected and unwanted pregnancy. It was the result of a drunken night, a mistake. I didn't want her to have a miscarriage, so I helped abort her. He wanted to abort her as well as the baby grew inside her body. I don't think that we should decide what happens to him or force him to do what we want. Believe me, I am very sad because there is no other choice but abortion and the fetus has to bear the consequences of your carelessness but it is the best. I'm sorry."

We heard footsteps and Devan emerged from the door, playing with his car keys.

"Oh hey," he told Gio. "I'm sorry I'm late, I'm stuck in some work. You didn't wait long, did you? It was nice to meet you after such a long time" Then, as if enjoying the tense atmosphere, she looked around curiously. "Why is everyone gathered here? Is everything okay?"

Gio said nothing. He lowered his gaze to the floor and walked out following her.

"I'll be back in a few minutes. I'll tell you everything." he whispered to Devan.

"Is he going?" He asked, looking at Gio's back.

"Yes"

"We should have gathered." He said, disappointed

"I'm sorry, I'll explain later" he said hurriedly, running after Gio

He was about to get into his car, but Gio stopped him.

"I need to talk to you"

He hesitated but eventually withdrew. "Now is not the right time."

"Gio, please. Listen to me."

"alright. What's up?"

"Let's go somewhere else to talk."

I took him to the park and we sat next to each other on one of the benches. He waited as he thought of the best way to make her understand
