Jump cliff

I went back and immersed myself in the blanket for the third time and fell asleep until nine in the morning. Everyone had breakfast by then and when I got off to breakfast, I was greeted in unison "happy birthday again".

Everyone seems to give me special attention today, I am surrounded by everyone, they all talk to me at once and tell me about their plans for me. I smiled at everyone and before I knew it, all my favorite foods were in front. Mario stood quietly in the corner, watching me with an amused smile. I grinned back at him.

I could feel him wanting to say something to me maybe wishing me a happy birthday, but he held back for some reason.

After I finished breakfast, I walked into the kitchen to talk to Mario. When he looked up and saw me there, he almost jumped down from the table he was sitting on and rushed over. But before he could say anything to me, he was cut off by high heels crunching on a shiny ceramic floor.

"Yes God. Darla! What are you doing here? You need to get ready." Bella's enthusiastic voice surprised me.

"Prepared for what?" I asked when I saw him.

"I told you we'd do a cliff jump. Don't want to break tradition now, do you?"

"What?!"

"Well, come to think of it. You broke that tradition once, on your nineteenth birthday, but let's forget it. Now come on," Bella pulled my hand and dragged me out of the kitchen. Looking back, she looked sad but gave a smile and waved at me.

"Bella," I pulled her hand after I was sure no one was eavesdropping. "can I not do cliff jumping?"

"Of course I can. Then what if the real Daria isn't here? You have to replace him"

"No, you don't understand. I can't do cliff jumping. I don't know how. That idea scared me."

"Don't worry, it's just for show.don't expect you to actually do cliff jumping"

I let out a sigh of relief. "Darya likes cliff jumping?"

"Yes, he's really crazy about such thrilling activities and I think he's contagious to Luna too. But his parents only allowed him to do that on his birthday".

"Wow. Does he have a wish to die on his birthday?"

"Yes like that." Bella chuckles.

"When did all this start? Until what I heard about him, he didn't sound like a person who was too interested in such a death activity".

Bella laughed and shook her head. "That's a funny story. She is very much crazy about Twilight movies and watches it often. So, one day on her birthday, she was watching New Moon and getting a stupid idea to do cliff diving, like the one in the movie."

"really? Can't be trusted."

"Yes, and after an hour or two of relentless pleading, her parents finally allowed her to leave with us, a dozen bodyguards and a few lifeguards."

"How old was it when you all started this tradition?"

"Thirteen years."

"Oh. He's completely different."

"Now come on. wear your bikini".

I groaned and trudged upwards

After I changed into a sky blue two-piece bikini and wore a crop top and shorts on it, I met Bella in the driveway where two cars had been waiting for the three of us.

But when I got there, I was surprised to find out that there were four people.

"Why is he coming with us?" I asked Bella when I saw Devan get in the car with Luna.

"Luna invited him to climb on the cliff. Without telling anyone, it seems."

"But this has become your tradition, right? It's wrong for Devan to interfere."

"Well, we never made such a rule," Bella shrugged.

"But that means I also have to jump off a cliff!" whining.

Bella breathed excessively. "Silent. You're gonna be fine. Cliff jumping is not as scary as it seems."

"It's easy for you to say that" I murmured as the car began to move towards an impending death.

After the vehicle stopped, I gulped nervously and hesitantly got out of the car

Outside of the land, one could see nothing but the sky above and the mountains in the distance.

The air is cold but sweaty. I'm so scared. I've never been a fan of such extreme activities.

"Daria, come on," Bella gestured me to approach her because I had not yet moved from her place on the other side of the car.

"Bella´s. I'm not sure I can do this." My stomach feels wrapped around me and I really want to be anywhere other than here.

"Don't worry about it. We'll make sure you can do it."

"Daria used to push Luna off the cliff where we were kids because she was too afraid to jump".

"thank you. It's very comforting" I said sarcastically "Let me tell you something. If you or Luna plan to push me, then I'll get out of here."

"No, no, no, I didn't mean that."

"Preferably no. "I grumble.

"Bella, Daria what are you doing there? Come over here. " Said Luna

"Come on," said Bella as she grabbed my hand and dragged me along with her.

Luna was busy taking photos with Devan and then tapping on his phone for a long time.

"What's he doing?"

"Posting on social media to let half the world know that she's here doing cliff diving with her boyfriend," Bella rolled her eyes at Luna.

"For a couple, they don't behave like a couple. There are soft and friendly things in their relationship. I mean, I've seen them kiss a few times but it's just in public in private, they're just acting like friends."

"Well, they were friends before they started dating" she said, shrugging her shoulders. We got in front of them and Luna finally stopped her activity on her mobile phone

"So, who's first?" Luna asked, handing over her phone to one of the bodyguards who came with us

"What about the birthday girl?" Devan asked,

"Or not. How's yours?" I glared at him,

Devan shrugged and smiled. "okay".

I didn't expect that he would confirm who jumped first.

He turned around, his back muscles rippling. Staring at them for too long because the next second, they were gone. He has gone.

I flinched when I realized that he had actually jumped

I immediately ran to the edge of the cliff and almost lost my footing, kneeling on the ground. The cliff is very high. And from this height, the water looks dangerous.

I can't see it anywhere. The ripples formed in the water were the only proof that he had jumped

After a while, I saw his head emerge from the water.

He's staring at us

"Are you okay?" I'm yelling.

"Why not?" He asked, stretching out his hands in a questioning tone. "Your turn now, birthday girl"

Not likely. After what I just witnessed, I couldn't do it.

I got up from my kneeling position, shaking my head.

"I can't do this, Luna, Bella, please." stared at them with a pity.

Luna put her hand on her hip. "Sorry, Darla, but you don't have a choice.

"Then why did you bring him here, when you knew you couldn't do it?"

"I don't know that. And no need to answer. So jump or I'll push you. You choose." Luna crossed her arms around her chest and tapped her legs to the ground. He was obviously impatient and just wanted me to continue.

I looked at Bella for help, but she just looked at me apologetically.

I sighed, "Alright, jump. Give me some time."

"Hey, are you leaving me or what?" devan's voice shouted towards us and turned

Okay, I can do this, though very hesitantly without breaking a few bones.remind myself that this could have been a worse thing but it wasn't, so I had to deal with it.

I stood there for about five minutes but still couldn't muster up the courage to actually jump.

"Are you sure you don't want to go in first? I mean, don't mind, actually I'll.."

My next words were the last in the wind, the wind that blew the air out of me as a result of someone.surely she was Luna, pushing me all of a sudden. I screamed with all my might the whole time.

Falling down feels very light. The things in front of my eyes changed so quickly that I did not know which was the water and which was the sky.

And then meeting the water, I fell with such painful force. And then everything around me is water.
