I'm Not Daria

I'm Not Daria
Go home

After dinner, I just sat aimlessly staring at the TV. The lotion really helped and a small portion of the red rash on my body subsided. I thank Devan for that.

....

About half an hour after dinner, everyone returned home. I should have locked myself in my room.

Anna came up to me and actually dragged me into her room, which I was actually very grateful to her.

She told me about her new friendship with Samantha and how she had taught her some makeup tricks, hairstyles, and things like that. He also told me how the paparazzi swarmed them as they got out of the car to head to the restaurant.

I was thankful I didn't leave at the time.

Anna remained completely unaware that I was not paying attention to her as she started talking about makeup, dresses and hair again,

I wonder if I should tell him or not. He was my best friend, I never kept anything from him.

But this time it was different, not wanting anyone to know about it. Devan will not tell anyone. And even if he did, he would be worried that I would tell everyone about the day the towel fell off his waist.

"Okay, Anna. I want you to shut up?" I interrupted in one of his chatter about something I didn't need to notice

He stopped and looked at me. "What's? Why?"

I let out a breath. I have to tell him. He would say, Oh my goodness! Are you serious? Did that really happen? That was Anna's reaction.

So I told her how Devan applied itchy powder to my clothes that made my whole shirt itch to the point of causing a red rash.

I also told him about me accidentally and very foolishly running into Devan's bedroom and stripping myself naked half-naked without knowing that he was there behind me.

Anna's mouth touched the ground after I finished telling the story. "Geez! Are you serious? Did it really happen?"!! Anna screaming.

"Yes, right," I sighed, already expecting him to react that way.

"You guys, what really happened between the two of you? In the other days, you two would be bad-mouthing each other and today, you two are like, I don't know, show your half-naked selves to each other and then be awkward afterwards. Are you going to get the baby out next time?"

"Shut up."

"It's fucked. You have to think about what you should do Darla. You better shut up when Devan tries to tease you. Show him that he doesn't bother you at all. That's the best kind of revenge you can take".

"I can't" I shouted.

"I would never do that. It was the same as saying that I gave up and couldn't fight with him anymore".

"I'm not going to let Devan be satisfied that he's embarrassed me. I don't want to show her my weak side, even though I'm tired of everything Devan did to me".

"I don't want him to think that I can't take it anymore and give up and make a peace treaty"

"Related doesn't mean weak, Darla. Silence will make him think that you are not bothered by him. He'll be frustrated because he won't get any reaction from you." Anna said and deep down I told her she was right.

"When you hit back with another trap, he knew he could affect you. Don't give him the satisfaction of seeing you upset or annoyed because of him"

"I can't ignore what he's doing." My speech

"I never told you to ignore it. Sometimes just smiling and getting on with life is the best revenge."

"I don't want to. For me, it's not the best revenge. If someone has to stop this, it's Devan, because he won't give up first."

Anna shook her head at me. "You two are so childish. Grown up. You two aren't kids anymore, so stop acting like kids."

"Hey, he's the one who started acting childish towards me first. Why don't you go and talk to him about his behavior."

"Whatever. I'm just telling you what you should do. Now it's up to you to do the right thing or not."

"I'm not gonna do it. And that's the wrong thing to do" I said sniffly.

"What happened to you. Darla's. You've never been like this. Okay, you were like this when we walked into Pritta's house and tore his clothes off, but other than then, you were never like this."

"People change. Especially when surrounded by bad guys like Devan, and my unsupportive best friend."

Anna rolled her eyes. "I'm only advising you on what's best for you, but you don't seem to want to obey" .

"And I told you I'd stop when he stops."

"So whatever, just don't let us get into trouble because you're gonna get blamed."

"I'm not looking for trouble. It seems like trouble is looking for me."

"That's right." said Anna

"I'm going to go to my room now. I have to think of a good plan of retaliation," I said winking at him.

Anna riled. "You two can't be trusted."

I gave her a kiss and quickly closed the door behind me.

...

As soon as I entered the living room, I saw Sam, Jess and Liam were already getting ready to leave. Devan was sitting quietly on the sofa, while opening up the TV channel.

Sam was wearing a cute pair of Cinderella shoes on Jessica's feet.

"So you're ready to go?" I asked, making my presence known to them.

Liam ended his phone call and turned to look at me. "Why are you lying to me?"

I looked at him confused. "What's? When did I lie to you?" This seems to upset him.

"You said Nathalie was here this morning, but she wasn't. I've asked everyone and they said he didn't come to visit. Even I called him and he said he didn't fly here and there was an important photo shoot" he said, waving his phone at me.

Yes, I lied this morning

"You're hard to wake up. So I have to do something."

"Again, this isn't Daria's fault. You can't wake up any other way. And thank you, Daria. Now I know what I have to do to wake her up from the bed" Sam chuckled.

"The two of you are evil sisters who are never wanted." Liam grumbled as he gestured for a maid to put her bags into the back seat of her car.

"So you're going to go." I said, ignoring Liam

"Yes, but we'll be back soon with Ardhika and Liam with Nathalie". Sam smiled at me and I returned the gesture. "Don't miss us too much. But we're gonna miss you so much, my sister." Sam said as he hugged me.

"Not going to." Liam snorted, "Now come on, we have to go. Sam wants to go home."

"No, you want to go see Nathalie.

He opened his mouth as if in denial but then closed it and shrugged his shoulders. "Yes, he's home"

"At least say goodbye to your little sister" Sam scolded her and she rolled her eyes.

"We'll meet in a week or two to celebrate his birthday. What date?"

Sam gasps. "You forgot your own sister's date of birth?! What kind of brother are you?"

"Silent. It's not a big deal. I mean, I remember the birth dates of my father, mother and Nathalie"

Sam glared at him. "I hate you, Lem." He turned to give me a kiss on my cheek and with a goodbye to Devan, he went to sit in his car.

Liam chuckled, staring at Sam's retreating figure. He walked up to me and pulled me into his arms. "I miss you, Daria."

"You really don't remember when my birthday was?" I muttered in his chest.

He smiled at my hair. "Of course remember, as well as Samantha's date of birth, I just did that to piss her off"

"It worked."

"Thank God."

He pulled away a moment later and kissed me on my forehead. "Take care of yourself, okay?"

He turned his head towards Devan "Hei Devan, Goodbye."

Devan got up and hugged him

"See you later, Liam"

Something hugged my leg and I looked down to see Jessica. I lifted.

"Goodbye, Jess," I said, kissing her chubby cheeks.

"See you," she said, she didn't look at me because she was playing with a bunch of my hair.

Liam looked at us, "Sam forgot to take him again."

"Again?"

"Don't ask. This isn't the first time she's forgotten about Jessica."

I'm laughing a little. "really?"

"Yes, I better get him back to Sam".

We said goodbye to them after Liam returned Jessica to her mother

With their departure, there was an awkward atmosphere between Devan and me. He returned to his position on the sofa and found it too strange to do anything. It was fortunate that she was watching the TV so that I could sneak out of the living room without saying anything to her.
