"Anna"?
I clutched my chest, feeling my heart pounding as I began to recover from the near-inflicted heart attack.
Devan sat up straight, fumbling behind me to put on the shirt he just took off.
"I-I just want to talk to you." He avoided looking at us.
"Okay, I'll be out in a minute." I tidied up my clothes.
He nodded and left.
"Can't you two talk tomorrow? It's twelve o'clock now. What is he doing wandering around the mansion right now?" Devan asked
"I need to talk to him now. I didn't tell her that I was dating you, I'd be back." I went to stand up but he pulled me back and buried his face in my neck.
"Go back soon."
I smile. "I'll be back." I promised while stroking her hair.
"Okay, I'll try not to fall asleep. But I'm so tired." He pulled away and got up.
"You should sleep"
This was not his plan to pass this news on to Anna. No doubt he'll be mad at me.
I stepped out and saw him leaning against the wall at the end of the hallway and near the stairs.
I walked towards him, suddenly feeling his cold demeanor before he even spoke.
"Anna?" I said to get his attention.
He turned around and took my hand, dragging me into the first empty room he could find. "Explain."
"I'm dating him. I was planning to tell you but you and I don't have a good relationship. I thought you wouldn't care even if I told you."
He let out a cynical laugh. "What'sthis? I clearly remember you telling me - no, rather telling me not to date Gio. You told me we didn't have a future together. You told me to stay away from her even when you knew I liked her and didn't think of her as a boyfriend"
"Anna, listen to me, I'm sorry, okay? I don't want to fall in love with Devan. But it just happened. You have no idea how hard it is for me to get away from him. I tried as much as I could but in the end I couldn't."
"Haha, you're a hypocrite. You told me that under no circumstances should I see Gio, no matter what happens we won't be able to be together, he won't accept me and it will only break my heart. I can't believe I listened to your bullshit and destroyed something so beautiful between him and me".
Her eyes started to water I didn't understand why she overreacted anymore. I sincerely apologize. What else does he want from me? And if he liked her so much, then he could have been with her by now. What's problem?
"Look, I'm sorry, but don't you think you're being too hard on me. It's not a big deal. You like Gio, right? Then go ahead, you can be together. Now I tell you to do whatever you want. So stop crying about something so stupid."
"That's not stupid to me. As usual you just become a stupid Selfish woman who only cares about your own problems and has no premonition about the mess she has created in the lives of others."
"Okay now you're too dramatic. I'm not letting you date Gio, oh wow I'm afraid the world will collapse" I said
He grunts. "You're not sensitive."
"No, Anna. You're being childish and stupid. Not as usual. And why are you outside my room, staring at us like a freak in the middle of the night"
"I want to make sure you don't run away, leave me here."
"Oh, don't worry. That act only suits you."
"Did he know?" He asked, ignoring my insinuation to him.
"That's her. I'm in love with him, I want to be with Devan. Something that could destroy us beyond repair"
"Are you serious?"
"I'll tell him soon"
"Why didn't you say it before you started seeing him?"
"I believe him but I'm not sure if he'll understand. Don't forget our real place, Anna. If he finds out, he'll probably kick us out."
"I know! I want to protect her and I'll tell her. I just need a few days. I'll make sure she knows that my feelings are real and then slowly I'll reveal them to her."
"You obviously don't think about all the possibilities. What if he finds out you're just a poor student who looks like Daria, and decides not to be with you? Is she really going to pick you after knowing that you are not a princess who has a lot of money?"
"I don't feel that way. I knew enough Devan to know that he didn't mind background when he decided to date someone."
"Are you not very confident?"
I shook my head.
"I've gone through all that anxiety. I know exactly what kind of person he is and know that money is not a problem for him. I didn't know about his parents and they would probably tell him to break up with me after that, he would probably give up on them, but that was because he was a good boy and listened to his parents. That nice. Parents should be the most important. And if they can't do anything, I have to let go. But the point is, he won't cut ties with me just because of the money. The reason may be because of trust"."
He shook his head. "Tell him before it's too late. I don't want anyone else's life ruined because of you."
"Can you tell me, whose life have I destroyed and how?! Because I can't figure it out."
"I'm going to go." He said before walking to the door. I didn't see him when he opened the door.
The next thing that was heard was his screams.
"Daria, it's Devan." He whispered.
My heart was racing at his words, I slowly walked towards the door, his figure blocking my view.
But when I got there, there was no one .
He turned around and grinned at me. "Oh, look how scared you are now"
"Anna! That's not funny!"
He said nothing and walked out, closing the door behind him.
I took a moment to calm myself down and after being convinced that the seat was lying at a normal speed, I walked towards my room.
Devan was asleep and I couldn't blink my eyes even though I was so tired that a huge sense of guilt gnawed at me from within, I thanked Anna.
.....
My father called us both to his study after breakfast. We know better sooner than late.
As soon as we sat in front of him, he stopped typing on his laptop and looked at us with a disappointed look. But thankfully he looks calmer now compared to his appearance last night.
"Tell me where you two went yesterday."
"Uh, dad. He just took me to the water park for fun. Sorry no one was told where we were going".
"Why didn't you tell me? I'm not gonna ban you". He spoke, directing his words at Devan.
"I know, I just thought this wouldn't take so much time that I didn't think to tell you. I don't want you to worry about him and we thought we'd be gone and back in no time. "Say Devan
"Then what happened? What took you two so long?"
"We went to all the rides. And we are disciplined. Devab was ready to drive me home at about six but I was very hungry so I told him we had to eat first" I said. "It's my fault we're late,"
"You're home at eleven in the evening. Do you need five hours to eat?"
"No, I told him to go to a nice place so we could eat while enjoying the beautiful scenery. And then time just passed. We chatted and ate and chatted again." I answered vaguely
"But still you two are not responsible for not telling anyone"
"I told my assistant to tell you it's getting a little late". Devan said slowly
"Will it hurt for your mouth to tell me yourself?" Mr. David turned his gaze towards her. "And I need to talk to you about what you've been doing with my daughter lately. Daria, come out."
"Dad, don't throw him out. He still has a few weeks of training left here"
"Just a few more days, isn't that Devan?"
